and like every pre-expansion time every new cool job should be claim as a dps, this expansion shouldn't have new dps honestly and i expect none with BLU and viera coming up.

Judging by the trailer, there is a possibility that we will be making peace with at least a fraction of the Garlean forces, so it's possible we'll learn to use a Gunblade with the help of our new allies.
The point is, we might be getting a FFXIV flavor Gunblade class instead of FF8, and so far all Gunblade users I've seen in FFXIV have insisted on tanking with their faces.
Wasn't DRK a DPS in XI but now it's a tank in XIV? I think we can say that nothing has to follow the usual formula of what you see in other games.

I hope it isn't as we have too many melee dps as it is.

I'd rather it be a tank.

Blue Mage has a literal Tank Stance. In the Live Letter Mighty Guard was described as a Tank stance, including bonus Enmity and reduced damage output. So … Yay for those that wanted to be a BLU Tank? That is a nail in the coffin of those wanting it for current content though. Heh.
I would prefer it that way too. After all we already got 2 tanks with a sword, and none as a dps if you dont like the oriental feeling of the samourai. It has been a while that i feel like we lack a more common dps sword job as most people usually picture them to be.
Plus i cant really get how to have a good set of ranged abilities as a tank (cause a gunblade screams ranged skills on top of the melee ones) when most of the time they keep a wall behind their back so that mobs dont aim at the rest of the group, or have to stay still so that the dps can use their positionnals correctly. Ranged skills are more for dps imo.
In the same way i wouldn't be against BLU ending up being a tank if one day SE unlock the duty finder for him. We already got 3 dps mages, getting a 4th one doesn't feel very varied.

I remember the end cutscene for Sircus Tower. In that, Nero seemed to use his gunblade shot as a bit of an in-your-face counter or finisher. Guessing it could work similarly.Plus i cant really get how to have a good set of ranged abilities as a tank (cause a gunblade screams ranged skills on top of the melee ones) when most of the time they keep a wall behind their back so that mobs dont aim at the rest of the group, or have to stay still so that the dps can use their positionnals correctly. No. Shadowbringers doesn't need to have a DPS in it.
