I honestly facepalm every time someone says that Viera are "elezen with bunny ears".

Body type is far more noticeable than any of the minor features individual races might have. It's what stands out when you see characters in a crowd, not the very minor details like face type. New races should add new body types to play around with, but that's never really been the case. I believe the excuse given was that remodelling all the gear for wildly different races would be too much work, but if that's the case I always wondered why they even bothered going this far at all... Miqote/AuRa/Viera could all just be "subraces" that you select at character creation for the remaining races. I feel that would be a superior level of customisation personally, rather than just Elezen Viera, you could have a midget Viera or hulk Viera depending on the base race with such a system... Would also potentially mean they could add more subraces in the future, rather than the "Viera is the last new race we'll ever give you" we got at Vegas.

Only real solid appeal to new races IMO is the new emote/idle animations, but personally I've always wished we had something like a "demeanour" option to configure something like that... Always struck me as silly that everyone of a specific race laughs the same way, for example... OK you can customise the voice but not the animation...

If SE don't introduce feol as a viera clan, then I understand how some may feel viera are leaning towards more of the same.

We have plenty of tall races already but only one short race. Sure female au ra are pretty short but that's just half of a race. If you want to be a short male your only choice is lalafel.

I'll be very disappointed if we don't get feol.

Female miqos, au ra, and midlanders are all tiny if you set them to min (4'8" fem ra, 5'2" miqo/middie).
Male miqos and midlanders max out at around 5'7" and 5'10 (I think?), and at min height they're 5'2" and 5'5" respectively.

We have plenty of moeblobs to choose from.

We already got very tall men the last time we got a new race. If all viera are tall then that's the same sort of thing again.

Also I think some of your measurements are wrong. My boyfriend plays a max height male miqo and his character is noticeably shorter than the max height midlanders in our fc.

My point was that there are options there if you want to be short. I don't have any objections to the idea of getting both Viera and Feol, but if we only got one I'd be ok with passing on another small cute thing.

They're talking about how they look overall. Most playable races in this game are all different flavours of humans, with only a couple being able to tell what they are at a quick glance (Lalafells are obvious, as they're the shortest race in the game and lack knees. Roegadyn males are also easy to spot since they're muscular box men and are the only race in this game that look good in the Vanu Vanu gear).

The thing is that pretty much any race would be one of "different flavours of humans" because there is just no other way, everything is based on human-like anatomy. And we all know SE wouldn't remake all pieces of gear just to bring a beast-type race.

I'm fairly certain that Viera's ears won't look anywhere near the Gold Saucer bunny ears and it will be something to make them stand out and pretty easy to spot in a crowd, much more than cats and lizards (I myself can't tell an AuRa apart from a far sometimes).
Plus for all we know actual playable Viera could look a bit different from Fran and closer to their concept arts. And we don't even know how tall they'll actually be yet.

That's true (I actually love Draenei so much), but sadly SE isn't Blizzard
Just trying to see it from a point where there is no way of making something like animal-like feet and features that would need their own models of gear cuz we all know that's not gonna happen :'(

The ears are something I have concerns about; specifically with hats, hoods and helmets. Will they stick out through hat/helmet holes, will they clip through them or worse, be confined in "ear socks?"
Or even more worse, will they be lazy and just hide them completely (removing the one thing that would make them easy to tell what they are)?
