That kinda makes sense tho we get this mount.
We got kirin that looks like the ponies
We got the flame bird that looks like the birds
And we'll get the fox lady that looks like the wolves.
Although i think it should be gold but fox lady is red so it makes sense. And i love it and can't wait to get it!![]()
Honestly nice change of pace kirin and firebird was the same golden theme and I like the design. Most of the time firebird hurts my eyes. I find it cute people are comparing the mount to fenrir when one requires you to literally log in to do little to no effort and the other requires you to think in relevant fights. (yes yes the grind for gold saucer points is so hard. /sarcasm).
I could be worse. It could be the lalafell edition of fenrir and thank god this one is not golden again. If you don't know what I'm talking about. It's the dog you get for collecting all the raid dogs. For ponies we got a golden pony, for birds we got a golden bird. For dogs we got .... the fox lady.

I'm probably going to be alone since it's such a significant grind that most people won't care for it, but honestly I low key want to cry a little inside from all the time spent farming for this and wrongfully hyping myself up (doesn't help that I think the design sucks as well). I just needed to express this here and maybe give a hug or two to my fellow farmers who feel the same.
For all the talk about doing things consistently from SE between patch versions and content delivery. This was a curve-ball I could've done without.
PS: I'm already fully committed and the last dog is actually the prettiest of the lot imo so I might as well go through with it now. Not too happy though.
The only thing i always find a bit sad about all the primal mounts is that there is NEVER a black one with a black glow.
I love when people complain about others giving feedback on a feedback forum. Is this supposed to be the “cool” thing to do? Get out, if you want to say you like the mount enough that you would actively farm for it for hours (we’re talking upwards of 300 hours for some) then by all means say it. If not, shut up you aren’t contributing anything constructive.
And that goes for all other white knights posting here.
To all the others who have posted their opinion, whether for or against. Thanks, it gives a better idea of how split the community is. I honestly thought it would be more one sided, somewhat glad to see a healthy portion of people are looking forward to it. At least there’s that.

Are you kidding me? It looks awesome![]()
Kirin and the Firebird both are based on fantasy creatures that are often represented with those colors. There are actual golden statues of Quilin that Kirin is based on. There are actual yellowish flames that the Firebird works with.
Furthermore golden is associated with fortune, both in the financial and luck senses. And so are both Quilin and Phoenixes which Firebird is obviously based on.
Their golden color have thus an explanation that is based on their history. However, nine tailed foxes are not associated with gold in any way, shape or form. They are deified, but as often as bringers of calamity as they are as benevolent protectors. There's nothing about "good luck". In fact, they are far more often mischief makers and man-eaters, their common good trait being bestowing of good fertility...for humans, not fields.
I'm confused, is the firebird mount based off a phoenix or firebird? Or is it both?
Depending on what source you look at, Phoenix and Firebird is one and the same. So let's look at what is in game.
The description says:
"The Far East is home to numerous legends concerning birds of flame who sacrifice their lives to save the world, only to rise from the ashes of destruction to rule the skies once again. The Firebird is one of those legends...made a mount."
That is pretty much exactly what a Phoenix is described at. A benevolent bird enveloped in flames that saves humans and is reborn from its ashes after death.
Oh, I don't have have the bird so I am unfamiliar with the description. It does sound like it's lore is based off the Western phoenix, but has the appearance (and name) of the Firebird. I always thought it was just straight up a Firebird. I just need to work on getting the rest of the birds.Depending on what source you look at, Phoenix and Firebird is one and the same. I concur, the EX primals often get unneeded exaggeration which cause people to shy away from them.
