I'm from switzerland too and I had no problem to register my card in click&buy =|
That's... interesting? I even called them and they told me they didn't accept my credit card because of its Swissness. Man, I really don't understand now...
Oh well, guess I'll have to wait for it. Anyway, from where Genz? It has been days I've shouted for Swiss people and never met one =D
Geneva
I use a prepaid mastercard from this (but maybe i'll get a bad surprise the 6th :3 )
From what I can tell, if you are outside the Eurozone, it depends more upon your bank's policies than your country. C&B use practicies which are not deemed appropriate by all banks. And C&B don't guarantee their service will work in all countries because of this.
So what has probably happened is that Renshi's bank has said "we don't like this company" and Genz's bank said "yeah, whatever". C&B's response of course being, "if it works, awesome, if not, too bad".
This scenario has been apparent in Australia as well leaving some players fine and others stranded. And also, surprise surprise, in the United States - thankfully they have other alternatives.
So it's not that they don't accept Swiss cards. It's probably that your Swiss card doesn't accept THEM.

Actually, there you have it. An institution dedicated to credit cards, where their primary concern is facilitating your online purchasing activity. It would be problematic for them if they blocked C&B transactions.
Actually I've used my credit card issued by The Post (Genz knows) and I've even paid Japanese comics from their websites with that, using it for my Steam games and Ebay (PayPal) payments. The only issue I ever had with it is with ClickandBuy, which isn't anything different than PayPal to be honest (or at least, I don't have that sharp eye to see a difference between the two services).
Ah by the way, Ticino here =)
But I guess the last Lodestone post pretty much answers my needs, let's hope for the best!
As previously announced, we will be bringing the extended free trial period to a close and introducing subscription-based billing to FINAL FANTASY XIV, commencing Friday, January 6, 2012.
Beginning today, players have the opportunity to set up a subscription plan. Upon agreeing to the terms and conditions of subscription-based billing, we ask that you complete the procedure via the Square Enix Account Management System.
Please note that we are working to implement additional payment options around the commencement of billing in early January.
Paypal is US based. C&B is UK/DE based. The two regions have differing financial regulations, requirements, and trends in what is and isn't acceptable. While they seek to achieve the same result, this means they go about it slightly differently.
The main difference between the two is that Paypal has made an effort to market and extend itself beyond its native boundaries. Click&Buy has not. Ergo, "unforseen" problems arise.
*Cough*
For Renshi
