    It's a myth.
I think back in the day when I was getting the ARR horses (and I think this was in HW, when we could go in unsynced) it took our party a collective 10-12 hours across multiple days to get the first Ramuh one to drop. This with buffed drop rates.
...then we got the remaining ones like every second go. Sure was a troll that old man.

I've been farming her all day and during all of my 20 runs of it this day it dropped once and when it did I rolled a freakin 2 so of course I didn't get it.

Out of all EX Primals her drop rate seems to be abysmal

It took me less than 7 runs to get my Suzaku mount and much less than that for Shinryu and Susano

So far I have all SB Primal mounts except for Tsukuyomi and out of all the primals I had to farm in XIV,she's by far the worst when it comes to my experience with a primal
Pretty sure the drop rates were increased for anything prior to Suzaku. You encountered some bad RNG with Tsukuyomi and got pretty dang lucky with Suzaku. The RNGesus can be fickle. If they are anything like the ARR and HW mounts you'll sometimes see 3-4 per farming session. Sometimes you'll see only 1.

The drop rate is real low at the moment. You should either grind for the 99 totems now or wait until the drop rate increases.

I too have quite a bit of SB mounts myself, yet Shinryu is the only EX trial I have not cleared yet (Rathalos EX included in the mix since I cleared that fight not too long ago with all 3 of my active characters.)

The day I realized I’m not cut out for healing.

    this story is 100% real
This story isn’t very eventful. (But, I’m actually the problem in this story.)
So I’ll just tell a fast version of it:
I decided to heal in the duty roulette. (big mistake) I got Doma Castle. The tank had good gear so they weren’t the problem. Regardless of having all 3 healers at level 70 I completely sucked. I was so bad we didn’t even get to the first boss. I eventually said “Yeah, I just remembered why I don’t heal.” And left the dungeon entirely.
I have no idea what the other 3 people did after. If any of you three are reading this I apologize for wasting your time.

To be fair, Doma Castle is actually one of the hardest dungeons in the game to heal, if not THE hardest, especially if the tanks are doing mass pulls. As a leveling dungeon, there's no overgearing crutch, most people are going to be heading into that dungeon undergeared on top of that.

Maybe but it seems to consistently happen to Tsukuyomi specifically for some reason

I mean sure Lakshmi was a little stingy too but at least farming her wasn't the suffering that is Tsukuyomi farming

I'll probably end up getting the 99 totems or just wait till Seiryu comes out in 4.5 and hope to the Twelve that the drop rate for stupid Yotsuyu is increased

My leveling of AST and WHM were so painful when I arrived to level 67. I was new to healing, I was still figuring my AST kit out, (at least I was decently geared) and those tanks just kept Leroy-Jenkinsing in those mob while I had not finished typing "new to healing so please be gent... AAAAAAARGH" *panic overheal*
But it forced me out of my comfort zone, and I was happy for the challenge afterwards. It taught me how to heal, how to sneak DPS, how to position properly... Just like Bardam taught me how to improve my tanking!

Your post gives me hope for players of the future. There are far too many people who play this game who complain about difficulty spikes instead of realizing that they should take it as a chance to learn how to play a class properly. It's that kind of thing that ends up with entire threads about how mist dragon needs to be nerfed and how a lancer and a gladiator end up being top DPS in a Lighthouse run (true story)

    Hehe thank you.
I actually think the game should not be flat, progression-wise. It should be getting harder, regularly more and more challenging. Although now I feel comfortable with everything the game has to offer in normal mode, I appreciate it when there is a little tweak forcing us out of our almost mindless progression through a dungeon or a trial.
But I also get that it's a lot about each player's capacity, taste and what each one wants to find in a game. I tend to like hard games if they are fair, and I don't mind being challenged. But people might not want to have that in FFXIV and would prefer a casual experience throughout the main scenario.
It's true that the game offers more in Extreme, Savage et now Ultimate content, but I think the gap is really wide between normal and extreme. I would really appreciate some step up in normal difficulty...

Why would people want to nerf mist dragon?I thought the difficulty for that was just right

Sure it can be tricky to avoid the ice plume AoEs but even if u get frozen all it takes is one hit to thaw you out of it(unless all four are frozen....which happened to a party I was with once on the dive bomb phase during an expert roullette run and we all laughed xD)
