I want square enix to turn blue mage into summoner 2.0 so it can raid. Then I get to see threads crying about how "it's not a real blue mage!" for as long as I've seen it for summoner.

I don't think that would be a problem. Honestly do you think there would be nearly as much backlash to BLU if it was just a regular job class? a lot of people who are upset are longtime fans of BLU and have been waiting for it to be added in a way that it can be main'd, which it has not right now.

There would not be nearly as much backlash against BLU if it was a normal job, this isn't even me talking about raiding, this is me talking about it not even being able to do story quest.

If it was released poorly, than yes. Releasing any job that is designed poorly aesthetically would be bad.

You have to keep in mind that SMN was poorly received at launch because it was just warlock with SMN paint there wasn't any attempt to make it FEEL like SMN. 4.0 and 5.0(god bless demibahamut) were incredibly well received because they made you FEEL like a summoner, they fixed a lot of the issues with the egi system from an aesthetic standpoint, all of them? no, and I look forward to future SMN changes but saying that if BLU was released as a regular job it would be translated as poorly as SMN was is in the beginning is a disingenuous statement. The dev team have pretty much knocked out every single job in terms of aesthetic faithfulness since NIN. Heck even astrologian which has never been in ANY final fantasy game was well received aesthetically at launch.

Look at DRK, DRK was released and told that it could not work as a tank due to how dark historically played(Draining HP for damage) and that without that it would never be a real DRK, it was launched, played, and people liked it. As a regular job even with all of it's balancing issues it had one of if not THE best job quests and felt rewarding to play, yes it has been weaker than the other two tanks but it's still playable, and still faithful to DRK.

No one would say "They should make DRK it's own separate DPS content where it can use it's HP draining skills to deal massive damage to enemies, and be behind the other jobs because it wouldn't mesh well with the rest of the game."

I think what has disappointed me the most about Blue Mage - from announcement to posts to discussions and everything in between - is how it's brought out some really terrible things from people. Some people are looking forward to it as it was announced; some are disappointed; some are in between.

But the group of childish, selfish players that have spoken out disturb me. Especially those that chime in with something along the lines of, "Too bad, I want it like this! But they better not do it to Dancer!"

That 'I got mine' attitude is just toxic and does nothing but incite arguments. It's like saying, "Sorry you got sick, but at least I'm okay!" Or, "Sorry you wrecked your car, but mine drives fine!" Seen and heard it too many times. It's disturbing to me how little that selfish attitude has been touched on in other people's comments...

The "I don't like this thing, so you shouldn't like it either" attitude isn't any better though. Any shred of positivity towards the planned implementation of BLU is nearly instantly swamped in responses telling them how bad it is, and why they shouldn't like it.

As someone in another thread said, BLU is going to be a "Dead on arrival garbage fire". They know this cause they just do.

Im being facetious about it, but yes, theres a lot of "I hate this thing and youre wrong if you dont hate it too" going on. I understand some peoples dissatisfaction or even ire regarding this change, but it does seem to be blown out a bit from what it should be (remember the threads about people unsubbing over it?). There's no real reason to proclaim the BLU thing as the best thing ever and is the funnest, much like theres no reason to say it's a garbage fire and is atrocious. No ones played it. Be optimistic or pessimistic about its prospects, but people should stop declaring its a success or failure before its even come out. We need more "Lets wait and see" here.

There's absolutely reason to say it's a garbage fire. Because it is in it's current state. Designing a solo-focused job in an MMO is just the antithesis to the entire concept of an MMO.

No amount of playing it is going to change it's restrictions. Only loud complaining has a chance of doing that.

You can't know it's a garbage fire because you have not tried it, how about you come back to say this after having tried the class, instead of spouting "facts" in your head. How dare people be interested in it. Grow up seriously.
