Agreed. FFXI doesn't even have this restriction on glamours. If you can wear the gear on any of your jobs, you can use it as a glamour.

The whole "but X roles won't look like X roles anymore!" argument falls flat on its face when you have everyone hopping in DF in their swimsuits regardless of role.

You have to realize there is a difference in allowing any class/job to wear any item of the plethora of generic gear in the game and allowing any class/job wear something that was designed from the ground up to fit the specific aesthetic of a certain job. I've no problem with them unlocking any of the non-specific role gear for any other job or role, but I would be strongly against unlocking the AF gear.

Which seems to be the direction that Yoshi P is going anyway. So rather than making threads asking for something that they are apparently already in the process of doing, why not start some sort of "master thread" for the popular items you would like them to prioritize unlocking?

What I think we're saying is we'd rather have just all of them unlock, instead of being fed piece meal in patches as new gear that's available to everyone. The main problem I have with the whole justifications given before is ala mhigan resistance fighters can wear ninja torso, with healing gloves and tank leggings, while using a spear. Why not allow everyone to glam like that?

I'm not experienced in any sort of coding, but I imagine it would be a lot of work to go back and either re-code the thousands of items already in the game so that they can be used by any class or remake them into new items that don't have restrictions (as they did with Pagos gear.) It's not like there is some master switch somewhere that controls the restrictions that they can just flip and suddenly everyone can use everything. Neither money nor devs' time is infinite. I would much, much rather get the old items piecemeal alongside the new content they are putting out than have them do something ridiculous like pull devs off of new projects so that they are slowed or even stopped just so we can have old items "fixed."

Personally I think that it's cool that Yoshi-P is encouraging players to voice their opinions on what they want most. More communication between the devs and the playerbase is the type of thing that fosters a good gaming community.

It was already attempted. Someone started a thread a little ways back with this exact intent, and quoted Yoshi's statement asking for sets they would like to see open up to other roles. It failed, and turned into just another thread like this one, with many demanding restrictions to be lifted. There was a handful of responses in the multi-page thread that actually gave Yoshi and the OP what they were looking for.

In a way, I'm glad the thread turned out that way. I don't like that statement from Yoshi. It sounds promising and maybe I am being skeptical, but I don't like the idea of just recoloring existing sets and giving them to other roles. In ARR, gear was so diverse and unique. There was still some recoloring but nowhere near the extent we see now. This is where SB has been the biggest disappointment for me.
