Got a feeling this may have been mentioned before but just in case, I'll say it. Would it be possible to have other means besides retainer rng to acquire the more "prestigious" dyes. Pvp seals,company seals, crafting, any thing really. It's annoying having to look so mismatched at times just because you got the wrong shade of white.

Maybe such other methods exists. If so let me know. If I got to take a hit and die on a raid then at least I want to make a cool looking corpse.

You can buy them from the mb.

Other than retainer rng and the mb, I wouldn't count on any other way ever happening because they can be bought from the mog station.

I’m not sure about other servers, but Jet Black and Pure White are always 300~400k or more on Cactuar. The other general-purpose dyes vary from a few thousand to maybe 50k depending on the color (Metallic Sky Blue tends to be priced higher). Rarely do they ever dip lower than that. OP could be talking specifically about those two dyes.

Thing is I don't like the concept of buying stuff in Mogstation. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of neat things in mogstation to get and I'm sure the additional income does help out the game but having to spend real coin on cosmetic items is something I can't get behind with. On any game really. But that's just what I think as an individual.

True, the Black and White are roughly 300-400k on Sarg though that isn't really expensive in Sarg's current economy, I've spent far more on a single minion than that. The rest of the retainer dyes are 20k or less.

Depending on the server economy I could see why 3-400k would be a pain though.

There is an exchange ingame - for golden chocobo-feathers, that you get from recruiting friends (but be careful: Those feathers are limited in the amount you can get AND also used to buy other stuff, like mounts)

I was getting ready to type this answer myself, but Vidu beat me to it. So recruit-a-friend feathers, mogstation, marketboard, and retainers. Thats 4 ways to get the special dyes.

I know it's rng, but to this date my retainers have brought back several rare dyes including well over a dozen jet black, but have yet to bring back even one pure white. I basically sell the black to mitigate the cost of the white, since the white is always priced higher.

I wonder if anyone has had the opposite. You and I should talk trades
