I can’t begin to imagine how much this would cost and how loudly people would complain for such a waste of time and resources on old content. I also have no idea how they would handle it when a number of voice actors were replaced/passed away in later content, so either the voice actors for certain languages would jump back and forth between the new and old recordings or those cutscenes would all have to be revoiced too.

Back before I played this game, I found the idea of silent cutscenes extremely weird and commented on how I wished they would change it before release. However, aside from getting used to it, experiencing the sheer volume of cutscenes across all of the MSQ, side quests, DOH and DOL quests.... I immediately understood why it would have been a massively wasteful endeavour - appealing though it sounds.

With that said, I can’t understand how 1.0 cutscenes seem so much more vastly cinematic by comparison to 2.0+ cutscenes. They have certainly improved as time went on, but with exception to a certain scene in 3.0, everything still appears clearly limited by the stiff animations. I would really love to see improvements in this regard but I absolutely do not expect it. Just about every other graphical improvement mentioned thusfar also earns my approval.

Why would they add or change anything Graphics wise when they hugely downgraded this very aspect from the original game. They already explained why they did this!
If anything, they desperately need to address the basic, robotic animations.

    And redesign the lighting.

    1. Physics. Clothes/hair
    2. Higher resolutions or further anti aliasing options

Rather than tech, more options for facial features and structure would be great, but the most desired thing right below physics is being able to apply more than one dye to armor. See GW2 for an example on that.

Not that I expect any of this.

Better lighting. There's so many shining weapons in this game and none of them cast light on environment and characters. Also, dynamic lighting for more skills and magic would be cool.

If you're thinking we're getting HQ textures and the likes you in for a disappointment. Yoshida already stated in interviews they are not planning on this as they'd have to redo all the assets since this was and is aimed to be playable on low end pc's and was a PS3 title in the past.

Occasional use of motion capture, rather than solely stock emotes, if I recall correctly. It also seems that there was simply a fair deal more care taken with the camera angles in certain cutscenes, iirc. I'd argue it offered more than full dubbing does in many cases, but it'd be far more costly as well.

This doesn't really require new tech, I just wish they would up the polygon count and add detail to character models and textures. I mean... Au Ra scales look great from far away but the moment you zoom in...

And the feet, oh gosh, the feet! I can count the number of polygons they're comprised of on the toes of one foot. Which is more toes than exist in all of Hydaelin.

Just give a HD texture pack, and put into any future benchmark software so people can try it.

    1) Better AA. The current AA is pure crap.

    2) Less reliance on very bumpy parallax maps. The angles that most cutscenes are at put the ground at such a steep angle that it looks like a pile of jumbled lines rather than a texture. making them a little less bumpy would at least lessen the ugliness from artifacts a bit.

    3) Sorta housing too, but the ability to dye the interior house walls, floors, etc. would be nice.

    4) Custom dye colors (can't be that hard since some dyeable gear already has a custom color by default).
