Oh hi This Thread! I haven't seen you in forever!
Summarization: "I've been here since NA release and I'm not paying until X patch comes out! That isn't happening soon.. right..?"
Despite having played the open beta a week before release, and reading all the negative reviews, I bought the game when it dipped in price earlier this year, because it had improved and because it was free to play.
It's miles better than it was when it was first released, but still not a product I would pay a fee for. 2.0 looks more or less exactly like I wanted this game to be at release, and exceeded my expectations for how much this game could be turned around.
So, instead of making demands, feeling entitled/betrayed or trying to raise a pitchfork army, I'm just going to do the easy, sensible thing: Quit playing until the game "gets there", to the point that it's at least as responsive/functional/enjoyable as its predecessor FFXI...
I'll play your 2.0 SE, but just because you've poured blood and sweat into reforming this train wreck (and for that feat you do have my amazement), I'm not going to pay to beta test version 1.x for a year until 2.0 comes out. The entire server/storyline/game mechanics are being overhauled, and as much as I'm looking forward to the finished product - I may not like the final product, and by that time I've shelled out like $200 in game fees. Release 2.0 and I promise you'll get at least 1 month of fees from me, which is more than I would've promised to pledge before the announcement of 2.0.
