LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
Or even the updated original post, yeesh. It reviews a good chunk of it.
I did read the last couple of pages, but reading the whole thing will not do.
Sorry, I just read the updated OP, wasn't aware it had been. :S
Still, I can't agree with OP yet. The problem is not power level as OP describes it, it's the players themselves (some, not all). I do enjoy the quests and story line very much, it is far from being in the "backseat" for me. The same goes for power level over good experience parties, power level is boring while good experience parties are fun and bring in enough experience per hour to be competitive to power level.
As for the "low demand" on mid-rank gear (low-level is good too), I have no clue what you are talking about, it's the thing that sells the most on my retainer. As for mid-rank equipment to have triple or quadruple pricing, there always have been people out of their mind with incredibly high prices, but other input a good price and it sells. Result, only the high priced items are left making people think everything is over priced (good thing the purchase history is coming!).
Now, level 40+ players that are clueless about their roles, how is that new? I did had to solo a great deal of my levels on archer when I didn't had much time to play, yes I did missed on that experience of learning my role. But I did learn how to be self sufficient with my class. Know what is best? Players can learn their role even at level 40+ and it doesn't take that much time either.
That is why I do not understand how power level affects everyone as bad as you people say it does.
Yes, it affects some players, but it's far from game breaking as far as I have experienced.
I am reading what you guys are talking about and can't apply it to what I experienced, how can I agree with you then?
I'm not trying to start a war or anything, the point is that it doesn't affect everyone in the same way you guys are experiencing it. Yes, it is bad it's not doing good for you, but it's not something that is afflicting every single player. If so, how can you be sure it even is the majority of players?

Hopefully the player poll clears this up.I did read the last couple of pages, but reading the whole thing will not do.

Agreed, it's like there's a god damn elephant in the room and a bunch of people are asking me, "What elephant?"Lol I knew posting that would get attention and it did exactly as I intended.
The funny point is, we listed facts as well but Sephrick you ignored them to get your point across.
No one is forcing our "views" down anyones throat. But I do feel like PL is being forced down mine. The majority of people are doing it now from what I've seen just on my server, so I almost feel obligated to do it since I can't find a group to actually party with.
Actually, this thread has proven that it doesn't prevent anyone from leveling as slowly as they would like to, despite claims to the contrary. If you didn't pick that up, then you obviously haven't read all 144 pages (like I have).
What this thread is really about is certain people demanding to impose their style of play on others, in spite of being able to play their way already. It's not enough for them to enjoy themselves; they insist on making other people suffer.
(original by GalvatronZero)
No one has yet to give a reason.
Some common reasons people in this thread are against PLing.
"PLd players don't know how to play their job."
As of 1.20, no one will know how to play their class. We're all starting off like PLd characters tonight.
"They'll get bored and leave if they get all classes to cap too quick."
Then all those folks with multiple 50s better show SE that's true and leave otherwise you're evidence to the contrary.
"What's the point of low level content if you can get to cap so quick"
What low level content? Oh, you mean that handful of quests and two dungeons they added after we spent a year with nothing to do but grind?
It's been said a dozen times, but I'll say it again.
SE is between a rock and a hard place. They have to use what few resources they can to keep those already at cap occupied without alienating those looking to start the game.
XIV doesn't have the luxury of being a run-of-the-mill MMO.
That said, oust and kill needs to be fixed. But PLing as intended is fine.
