Would anybody like to see more Jobs per Class?

I personally wouldn't mind seeing more jobs do as Arcanist did, put Theif under Rogue, Ranger under Archer, Geomancer under Thaumaturge, Beastmaster and Berserker under Marauder, or make new classes for the existing jobs that don't have them, like a Ward or Apprentice for jobs like DRK and AST.

Also, I know it's a bit of a stretch, but make jobs interchangeable inside dungeons/instances, they could tinker with a lot of dungeon mechanics by doing this.

I'd rather see Scholar moved off Arcanist and put onto Musketeer (the old Limsa guild that has never been used), rework some of the spell casting into pew-pew with a small gun... Give it a sort of Combat Medic sort of vibe... I think the whole Strategist concept behind Scholar would work nicely with that, personally. Perhaps keep it almost exactly as is, just make the weapon a dual wield like Ninja; Book in the main hand, just add a pistol to the offhand (the fake way, not the Paladin shield kinda way).

Given the lore around the Class, Geomancer would almost certainly come off Conjurer, not Thaumaturge. Conjurer's are the "use the power of nature" Class, after all. Although with the Pajal (horns), and the mere name of the Class, 1.0 it was clearly intended as the Summoner Class, I believe they even swapped a lot of the skills between Thaumaturge and Conjurer at one point... XIVs development history is complicated, to say the least...

Honestly I wouldn't mind two Jobs per Class, but they'd need to put far more effort into such a system than they did with Scholar and Summoner. I really feel like they rushed those Jobs out to have something new for 2.0, and while also trying to work a new system they just kind of made a complete mess of the concept and scared themselves away from the idea...

I always felt, for example, Dark Knight should have been a second Job for Marauder... It already had a lot of Dark Knight style skills (Vengeance and Bloodbath, once upon a time), and while an Axe isn't typically the Dark Knights weapon of choice (and there's no real reason to limit a Class to 1 weapon like that to begin with...), I felt a Headsman kind of aesthetic would be interesting... Mechanically as well, OK Marauder is a tank and Dark Knight should be a DPS, but I think you could have worked enmity into the Jobs feel... Ninja can dump its enmity on a target, how about Dark Knight, using the tank aspect of Marauder to build enmity, being able to dump its enmity into increasing its damage? That feels sufficiently angst-y to me...

But yeah, Yoshida doesn't want to do that again... Classes in general are just a vestige of 1.0, I'm pretty sure he has stated he'd like to work a way of removing them completely...

No, no more jobs to classes please. Arcanist/SMN /SCH was a big enough debacle.

Uhh... HELL NO. You kidding? FF14 is complicated enough as it is! No need to make it worse!

When 4.0 brought the changes to skills and traits, I was hoping it was an experiment with possibly making "new" Jobs out of existing ones by tweaking and adding traits to modify abilities. Like hitting Archer 30 then getting two job crystals (Ranger and Bard) and depending on which was equipped you'd be taken down different styles of play that still fit within the class's Role or heck even change it. Sort of like a variation on skill trees. I know they tried something like this with SMN/SCH and it was apparently extremely hard to work with but still feel it's something worth looking into if they feel like putting the effort and resources into it.

It could be, i still feel like it's wasted potential if they can't remove it. I dont know their reasons for why they think it was a mistake but I imagine it probably has to do with the limited number of jobs that we would have to level if they continued doing this, where I dont feel like leveling a job in this is any real task anyways, that and if they wanted us to level jobs more they shouldn't be making new ones that all start at level 50.

Maybe limited jobs will share a similar fate. Game developers aren't always right, after all.

Been playing various MMOs for almost 2 decades now and XIV is simplified and homogenized as hell in comparison to a lot, especially from the earlier days. The devs themselves have said over and over how they tried to make this a game newcomers would be able to pick up easily and it's plain to see how they bend over backwards to avoid any form of complexity. But perhaps it can be considered complicated for complete newbies to the genre.
