I'm serious though. If I want to raid. I join a raiding FC. Even if I have to transfer servers to be there. So I have a hard time comprehending this 'split community' thing. Why would someone stay in one FC and yet raid with an entirely different group of people? Why not just raid with your FC, or become good friends with your static and transfer to their server?

I've never seen an MMO where people stayed in one FC/guild while actively trying to raid with another group. It just seems so foreign.

For some, they don’t want to leave their home server and the ties they have made there for a raiding FC—back before cross-server was even a thing, if you wanted to raid on Aether, you moved to Gilgamesh or Sargatanas, and you gave up playing with your friends on your home server in order to do so. That’s not an easy decision for some people—not everyone wants to leave behind their friends on their home server for that, and not every server had a large raiding scene (Cactuar didn’t have a large raid scene until Creator when cross-world became a thing; it’s since grown and does quite well, but it’s still no Gilgamesh or Sarg). Hence why they join a cross-server static.

Not every FC wants to be a raiding FC either—my first FC on Cactuar had very few raiders, and my second one that was all friends had only one other person who raided; the others did not. Interests vary; it’s not that shocking of a concept.

Please stop being so short-sighted. Not everyone plays the way you do.

I've been in the same FC for more than a year now because I love my FC mates. They're a bunch of really nice and fun people.

I raid with a different group; people who are not from my FC. My static Scholar is from America but playing on JP server. She still could make time to raid with my group without having to transfer and also with an entirely different timezone. Why? Who knows amirite ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe if you actually use half of your common sense, you would understand why.

Because their FC isn't filled with raiders, but is good in many other ways?
Raiding isn't the only thing done in the game, you know.

Nah, there’s quite a few that want the raid shinies, but just don’t want to put in the effort required for it. Or who don’t have the skill for it. Some want to raid but don’t have the time for statics due to real-life responsibilities and schedules, but who do not PUG because PFs are questionable, and become more so the longer you wait. Also the mindset: JP sees Savage as the next thing to do on a list of content; hence why their clears are higher than any other region. People on NA/EU are very, “I don’t wanna do it, so I’m not gonna do it”.

There are people who don’t see it worth the time, but it’s not the most pervasive of mindsets, nor the number one reason. There are a myriad.

People are moving from Crystal to Aether because the raid scene will be larger here, what with Gilgamesh and Sargatanas both on here (both of which have the highest rate of clears). And the raiders moving do not want to be isolated from the greater raid community. Those who made the raid community on servers like Balmung do not want to have to remake a new one, so they are also moving.

Raid gear gets replaced so fast though but I can see why some people want it for bragging rights even for a limited time. I just hope when most of the raiders move away from Crystal they won't take all the regular competent people that do normal content with them is all. Seen people wipe on ARR EX primals unsyc after all and that's on Aether! Crystal will be many times worse is my fear.

Unlikely. So far there is no indication that there will be any new physical locations for the servers.
