    - Feast continues on its downward spiral until it becomes as barren as Diadem

    - All the work you did in Eureka is thrown out the window for the NEW Eureka Lightning world in which everyone is returned to Elemental Level 1 and sleeping dragons surround the aetherite.

    - We get the bunny race, but it's nothing like people are hoping for.

    - Likewise with Blue Mage

All we wanted was to be able to have mannequins in our homes that we can fashion with some of our glamour choices, but SE turns around and makes a totally convoluted system with it tied into the MB, available retainer space, etc. NO ONE asked for this
Same can be said about a ton of things. things. For exanple Glamour plates is such a convoluted system and uses so many resources when all players asked for was a simple glamour log. Then they can't add more because server limitations and stability...

Why design such a complex and convoluted system that Is so resource hungry when literally all you needed was a master item id list and a binary string of 0s and 1s to check against said list and decide whether that glamour was unlocked.

Would have virtually unlimited capacity and use next to no resources. If done right you could store liken 15,000 items of glamour information for over 2,000 players and fit it all on a 3.5 floppy disk.

You ever play RPGs? Do you keep the gear that you get at lvl 5 when your lvl 35? Gear will go out of date as the difficulty curve goes up. So yeah, Prog will make your gear expire. And frankly, not even that fast. If youre doing casual content (Non Savage or Ex modes), youre gear will last far longer than the Highest tier. The Highest tier will always require the near best from the previous tier as a point of entry. But casual content wont, and people are offered pretty easy means of getting more up to date gear.

I think people focus to hard on "Gear makes the game good" rather than the actual game, which is "Challenge and accomplishment makes the game good." Gear is just a means to an end. Not the end all be all.

I'm guessing there's some kind of underlying convolution that makes them have to keep handling the items as items, rather than being able to tick them off on a list.

There must be odd things at work. With the first version of the dresser you could delete things from it (being the only way to remove them at the time). Then they added the ability to actually remove the item, but now you can't delete things from the dresser and instead have to remove it and then discard it. So some odd mechanism at work there.

I'm going to guess that putting items onto the glamour plates might actually be duplicating the item rather than referencing it. Once it's on a plate the dye colour is completely separated from the base item in the dresser (dye the original and the plate version doesn't change) or you can even remove the item from the dresser and it will remain on the plate. That could explain a lot as to why the system is resource-hungry and unwieldy...

As you say, why would they invent a complex system if a simple one would be better? Maybe because the (infamously messy) coding can't handle it the should-be-simple way, so they're doing the best they can to create solutions that work within the system.

And that's why so many of us are scared that they'll just keep going with the existing infrastructures :\

    - Skill kit rationalization, with the pvp skills (and chain system) getting pushed to pve. That's an immediate "nope unsubbed" moment for me
The sad part is they HAVE TO do another pass on the skill kits given all the cruft they added back in with making cross role choices meaningless, and pushing the duty action system.

    - More fake instanced zones full of boring grindy FATEs giving people carpal tunnel for a few measly loot boxes and tier-behind shiny weapon/gear/whatever.
Stop flogging the Diadem dead horse. FFXI has been. We know where to subscribe to it and it isn't here. Leave it in the past. This is Spart.... err.. FFXIV.

    - Another gear treadmill with 3 main gear tiers with meaningless choices.
Materia melding has only increased gear costs, but not added any value.
Actually with the crafted gear augments, gear value has dropped another notch

    - More content obsolescence at release.
Face it, the only "relevant" content at the moment is Savage, Ultimate and Extreme.
Everything else (dungeons, NM raids, NM trials (OK "HM"), alliance raids (always 3 months late and a tier behind) is just "faceroll keyboard here and you'll get your reward"
So much for all the talk SE had about "bringing up the bottom performance"at the start of Stormblood. Nothing has changed. Nothing was innovated.

We have the exact same structure for content as we had in HW and before in ARR, to nearly the exact same formula ... anyone want to lay a bet the 5.3 trial will be MSQ and involve you fighting a previously vanquished villain who came back in a new improved form ? (Just like 3.3 and 4.3)

Most of all I fear the boredom, of having al lthe choices and none being particularly interesting, and being forcibly fuinneled to the hardest imaginable content for challenge.

FF14 is a great game with a great underlying system ... but it really needs a fresh breath of air in its primary content structure.

A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

That's because SE did nothing to bring the bottom performers up to close the skill gap. To afraid of telling players they need to engage there brains and common sense.

What SE did instead was try and close the skill gap by pulling the top performers down. Making content easier and trying to put an artificial ceiling on skill. Which didn't work because players just smashed straight through the ceiling and kept on going up.. moving further and further away from the bottom performers...

Also dumbed everything down so much the bottom performers can basically autoattack there way through content and still clear it effortlessly while watching Netflix or something...
