This is it for me. If big overhauls in the formula are going to happen, expansions are the best time. My greatest fear is just...more of the same: "Here's the new 8 man raid, here's the new 24 man raid, here's the new tomestone (Its a different color!) here are the new zones that look pretty but don't have anything happening in them, here's the new race that's a human with animal ears, here's the new beast tribe, here's the new FC vehicle (that only one person in the FC actually makes, but drags 3 others into the workshop to be warm bodies), etc".
I wanna hear something like, "In addition to our usual additions, every patch in the 5.x cycle will have a totally different focus!
5.1 will be Open World themed with an overhaul to the FATE, Hunt, and Treasure Map systems to make them more varied, engaging, and rewarding. In addition to totally new content in the open world, such as a variation of FFXI's Besieged! Beast tribe armies will gather and then assault capital cities. Work to slow down their war machine ahead of time with new daily quests and objectives in the zones of Eorzea and join with hundreds of other adventurers to defend the Eorzean Alliance capitals when they do launch their invasion!
5.2 will be Gold Saucer themed, with huge updates to the Saucer including new GATEs, new mini-games, new Chocobo Racing tracks and abilities, new TT rules and card de-syncing similar to FFVIII, Blitzball with recruitable npcs/equipment/abilities/PvP and PvE matches, the Battle Square (with everything from casual to hardcore difficulty levels and rewards!), and a slew of new MGP rewards!
Other patch themes to be announced in future live letters, stay tuned!"
And gosh darn that isn't what this thread is all about, but I got caught up in my hopes again ><
