This game has pvp?
This game has pvp?

I wish that the dev team could understand that just because something is successful (data-wise) doesn't necessarily mean it's fun. It's easy to look at the data and see lots of people in Pyros and conclude that it must be successful. It's also easy to look at the leaderboards in PVP and see that there are indeed people trying to climb the ladder.
But in both cases, these layers of RNG are not fun and don't lend themselves very well to encouraging people to continue.
"We want bunny suits for guys!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Ishgard housing!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Viera!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Cloud's motorcycle!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Blue Mage!"-- OK! ✅
"We want the ability to earn past Feast rewards!" - OK! ✅ to armor
"... and mounts?
And relic weapon, armor and the FF11 glamour items would not have been enough rewards? For folks talking about SE using tempting rewards to "force" players into unpopular content...
Seriously, listen to yourselves. ALL content should have unique and interesting rewards. Just because there's a piece of content that you don't care for personally that happens to have a reward you want, does not mean that content should be an exception. Any piece of content SE adds to a game, they expect and want to be successful. They aren't going to add content and say, "Almost no one will like this, so let's make the rewards so bland that even the few folks who DO like it will question why they even bother!"
Eureka and PvP DO have enthusiasts, and those enthusiasts are as entitled to cool and unique rewards as enthusiasts of other content are.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Remember when we got new hairstyles and emotes immediately?

Honestly I don't think putting items behind gated content is a bad thing. Incentives to do the content are nothing new in gaming and content should have rewards for a job well done to keep people coming back. The issue here I feel is with the content itself. I don't feel like anyone would complain if the majority of people actually enjoyed PVP or Eureka. Yet the rewards feel like little more than a carrot on a proverbial stick to bolster the numbers of unpopular content as opposed to feeling like something truly well earned and worth obtaining. When people feel forced to do something they dislike and know no amount of feedback is going to fix, it's hard to blame them for feeling bitter.
It's called the relic weapon/gear (plus some mounts and minions related to the area), PvP also has its seasonal rewards at the very least. Both of which are established as the rewards for said content, but hairstyles or bath towels have zero relavence to Eureka or PvP and shouldn't be there - it's clear as day they're only doing this as an excuse to get people who don't care about those content to play it instead of actual improvement.
By your logic should they also start putting similar items into the Ultimate/Alpha Savage chest then?

Eureka I feel is just like every one of mobile games that has lootboxes. Mobile game where you do nothing but tap tap tap, or in Eurekas case, go AFK while others kill stuff and join in on FATEs to get lockboxes in hopes of getting good rewards.
Here is a money making tip Square Enix. Make a mobile game called Final Fantasy Eureka, tap on 200 monsters and earn a lootbox, can also be bought with real life money. Just remove Eureka from XIV xD
