Stop putting everything unique in PVP/Eureka

Please stop putting all the cool unique rewards into PVP and Eureka. If people are not engaging in this sort of content, then you should just cut the losses and redirect development time into types of content you see players actively engage in.

I am getting fed up of having to do boring PVP/Eureka for unique housing items, hairstyles, minions and mounts, while PVE gets reskin or no rewards at all, and the one that are unique, are put on the cashshop.

This sorta of situation XIV is in atm, is the exact reason that I ended up quitting WOW for after having played that for 7 years(2004-2011) The blizzard devs started putting more and more cool stuff on their blizzstore, and everything PVE rewards was recoloring of old mounts and such.

Please SE/Yoshida/Devs, you are better than Blizzard.

Well I do agree with you there about the rewards being locked behind pvp and eureka, but sadly it's how they force people to play those features: without them even fewer players would care to do them and there aren't as many as you think!

...on the other note, I'm fairly sure the blizzstore only sells mounts and pets (16 pets and 12 mounts, 3 transmog helmets and 4 packs as of this message - i don't count services like name changing and such)) that while are not in game there are HUNDREDS of mounts and pets already to collect, some even cooler than the ones in the blizzstore imo.

So yeah, I agree with your first point, but I'm fairly sure that most of the cool stuff in wow is still in game.

Meanwhile most of the cool stuff in this game is in the shop, including emotes and dyes.

I agree about PvP because only 100 people are going to be able to get certain rewards, however, disagree about Eureka because everyone has equal access and a chance to snag the rewards if they put in the effort.

    I agree with this sentiment.

As much as I dislike Eureka, it's not a problem to put rewards behind it. There are rewards behind everything in this game, some you like, some you don't.

If they put rewards behind dungeons for example you only have to do that dungeon and not all the other ones too. Also since people have the roulette or need to do the dungeon for story you have more people getting it, thus selling it on the MB thus probably getting it cheaper. Also you can wait and just unsynch it an expansion later. PVP is also still fine if its buyable with wolf marks and not a reward of each season. Because one is limited in number and time while the other can be slowly worked torwards to. Thus wolf mark items are still okay because one daily PVP will get you the item no matter if you lose or win.

But Eureka is a whole other beast. If they put a mount in the last one, a person needs to level through the whole three other parts before they can even attempt to get it..that alone is a huge time sink. Then on top of that the drop is purely RNG and sometimes even depends if someone is even able to spawn a certain NM. You also need to do this when its relevant or you will have a big problem on getting there. There is also no way to unsynch this in the next expansion.

And if you dont want to do Eureka then you might not get it at all. Some are not tradeable at all and those items from Pagos like the minions often costs way too much.

So PVP is imo still fine with wolf marks simply because you can work towards this on your own pace and you have a goal that you can reach with a certain amount of runs since you have a minimum amount of marks that you get even with a loss. At the same time you can level up other jobs, your pvp rank and get more progress to a lot of achievements. And that is with maybe 30 minutes a day, so something even someone can reach, that barely have time to play.

Dungeons are a bit more RNG, but still its only one dungeon you need to do, depending on which one it is, you can also level up jobs, you can even unsynch them, and each run itself will help you towards other goals too be it stones, glamour, exp and other things.

Eureka needs a huge time investment depending on where the item drops (so lots of playtime to even get there), depending on the participation number you might not even find a group to level and do stuff (which means you might only be able to do the challenge log.) and at the end of all of this you might never ever see the drop because RNG can be utterly cruel. I mean I had people with thousands of loot boxes that never got the mount while others got it with their second one.

So I agree partially with the OP. Less items in content like Eureka, that is too closed of from other content and that need too much investment to get somewhere.

Its the release week of the content and please dont forget that these 144 people are those from the whole datacenter. So it would be really sursprising to not have full instances.

About buyable from the MB: Yes and what will happen in the next expansion? You cant unsynch this content thus if nobody sells items anymore then how would you be able to buy them?

The only bad part about Eureka is that the items are behind 3 levels of RNG.

    RNG: Will monster mutate?
RNG: Will mutated monster drop a box?
RNG: Will box drop said item?

Can you imagine if you needed to win the lotto that you had to correctly guess the randomly generated numbers 3 times in a row rather than once?

Anyone who does PVP gets wolfmarks so everyone has equal opportunity to get the rewards from that. I'm not defending putting unique hair as pvp rewards, it sucks out my soul and I hate it, but your comment doesn't make sense to me.

I also understand a lot of people don't like Eureka, those people don't have to do it either. I don't agree with SE's implementation of rewards from Eureka but I do agree that there should be certain items only available in it. It was the same with Diadem. Whether you like the content or not, you have to agree that having everything handed to you just makes those unique items not unique anymore. I don't really care for Eureka myself, but I do it because there are incentives for doing so. It's the same as farming birds or dogs or horse mounts from Primals. Not everyone likes learning Extreme content, but the reward is worth it.

Anyone can put in the effort to rank in feast. No amount of effort will sway RNG lol

I agree that the locking of items behind commonly reviled things like eureka and pvp reeks of devs desperate to try and force players into unpopular content. I suspected it when items showed up behind wolf marks and I definitely suspect it now.

It's true that dangling a carrot can help incentivize player to do content. We see it with raid gear, mounts, pretty much everything in the game. But locking pretty much every new item in eureka this patch just look super desperate. If you knew it was going to be so unpopular maybe you ought to have spent more time on it, or change directions altogether.
