FFXIV Needs Player Polls

FFXIV really is in dire need of player polls because at this rate 5.0 seems like it'd be more of the same formulaic patch cycle and odd focus on the new player churn rather than retention. While I believe bringing new blood is never bad we do need to address this disconnect that seems to exist between the Devs and the Veteran/Endgame players especially after the release of Eureka:Pagos, a content so devoid of proper change you need to wonder where the Feedback went. Figured a Poll a Month or so would help push this game on a path that would lead the devs to actually shake things up.

I don't see them deviating too far from the formula, and personally I'd prefer they just go back to something that worked prior to SB: the relic grind. But player polls would go a long way so long as they're optional. It would be unreliable feedback if it was forced players upon logging in... "Which option is fastest to click?" But they would be a great idea.

Well, they can take a page out of Runescape's book and allow players to vote on what the next update should include and/or focus on.

They spoke about the formula somewhat recently, they know some people are tired of it, but there are also other people who like the formula and changing it would alienate those players.

I personally think they should improve on the formula rather than uprooting it, like some changes to tomestones to make gearing alts easier rather than getting rid of tomestones.

They really need to do a poll. Once a month may be to much though as players are unlikely to bother with it after a while, to seriously fill in a one takes time.
A poll around x.2 or x.3 would be a good thing, having one poll each expansion would be more likely to provide more honest results.

This would be particularly nice when it comes to reporting players who are committing any manner of offense other then harassment.

Absolutely this as well as regular player surveys. They need to get real information from players and the best way to do it would be directly from us!

There would be war for a month. Then, whichever path SE took -- to add or not to add -- half of the community would still be at war, eternally, showing how "back then we were right." "They made a mistake listening to the majority."

Net result would be the same, people bickering over the forums forever. SE already knows where people stand on this particular issue, as well as hundreds of other issues-- so in a sense, they've already done their surveys.

Were they to do an official survey at this point, it would probably be theater.

The forums will always be a war zone, but there is some truth to some of the feedback here. It just gets lost in the chaos sometimes. The poll doesn't have to take place here though. Nothing bad could come of a player poll every so often, so I have no idea why you're truly against them no matter where they'd decide to post one.
