I don't feel like digging out sources but both of these statements have been made by SE when confronted with negative feedback.

A poll would only be useful for a team that is relying on player feedback to make decisions. I imagine FFXIV has to be worse off as a game for SE to even consider that sort of thing. They are doing fine just releasing whatever they want to see in the game. We're all still here paying while we complain.
It does feel that way doesn't it? While I get the feeling they just aren't used to how demanding the US/EU base is. And before people jump on my back screaming - They should- Just look at their recent releases? Who asked for 2 Lighting spin offs? Who asked for 15 and KH3 to be delayed so long? None of us did.. and look how they all replied to all of us saying so. I don't think they are used to how demanding and loud we are and it clearly shows when YP says things like -play other games - and - you're doing it wrong-. Both sayings tell me we're dealing with a team of devs who are confused on why we don't like their content and they clearly don't know how to deal with it. THAT and yes.. SE like many old japanese companies .. - SEGA and CAPCOM I'm looking at YOU- are EXTREMELY full or pride. and that is a dangerous thing for a company to have.

Then again, when you look at EA or Activision whom have no pride at all, you'll end up with games like Battlefront 2 (developed around pay 2 win) or Destiny 1 & 2 (almost no story, gutted customization for microtransactions, copy paste enemies in expansions, corrupt exp system to get people to buy microtransactions, ect.). To be honest, I don't think EA or Activision cares about feedback either, because they have no pride, just profit margins. Nobody asked for microtransactions either, and yet US AAA games are riddled with them now. Pride is not heart of the problem.

Not with US/EU companies no. Pride isn't an issue, with those companies it's GREED. - caps for effect - But you're right if we're talking about EA, Ubi and Act. Pride isn't the problem. But we're dealing with an old stuck in their ways japanese company.

Net result would be the same, people bickering over the forums forever. SE already knows where people stand on this particular issue, as well as hundreds of other issues-- so in a sense, they've already done their surveys.

Were they to do an official survey at this point, it would probably be theater.
Honestly I have to agree with this. Unless the survey was generic (How much do you enjoy X content), asking about specific things like parsers is only going to lead to a community meltdown.
