The way people in FC flip out when you offhandedly mention you're skipping a voiced cutscene is priceless. The exact same thing happened to me. The 4.0 launch debacle combined with the lackluster story had me skipping a lot of story content. I wanted to get as far as I could, as fast as I could so I wouldnt hit another roadblock like Rauhban and Pippin.
I honestly only know bits and pieces of the SB story. It's pretty barebones. Your typical resistance against the empire blah blah blah. Yotsuyu was mean, then she wasn't, then she was.

That about sums it up actually, give or take a couple small details. The exact same thing happened to me. I admit, when Stormblood launched, I hurriedly kept skipping most text dialogues (not cutscenes) until I got to Onokoro. Didn't go back to really re-read all of them until I completed the MSQ, which was around day four after launch.
I was fortunate to barely escape the Raubhan bottle neck because I literally logged into the game the moment servers went online. Even then, I was still stuck at Raubhan for about a couple hours. That was enough to convince me to keep turboing through the MSQ until I got well into to the Kugane region.
Hopefully, we do NOT get a repeat of that in 5.0... *(touch wood)*

I skip any and all cut-scenes if they are part of a PARTY oriented content, like Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium, new dungeons and trials etc.
After the run has ended I immediately go to the Inn or watch the cut-scenes trough other means, after all I do like the story in this game and I do love cut-scenes.
I just hate to waste other peoples time and I'm very mindful, it's also the reason I know to press more then 2 buttons and you need to move out of aoe and stack up on stack markers. Sadly the majority of people in this game are not like me when it comes to this.
Whenever any cut-scenes happens in solo content I do not skip it of course.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I skip everything, mostly because if I want story I'd rather brew a cup of tea and watch them back in the inn without the stupid teleporting bs getting in the way.I skip any and all cut-scenes if they are part of a PARTY oriented content, like Castrum Meridianum and The Praetorium, new dungeons and trials etc.

One feature I feel they need to add to the inn on those books, is a checkbox button next to each scene, so we can watch them in a row and the order we decide to place them in and auto play. I hate having to go to the next section or next tabs and finding all that's jumbled up into a john madden complex for all the categories lol. most annoying feature about those inn books.
I have repeat cutscenes turned off. But my first time in new content I watch them. The cutscenes at the start of a dungeon/trial and at the end for beating the last boss are pretty shoret. SE has learned their lesson about not shoving overly long cutscenes into group content again.
