I can only advise you to never take 20+ years loans in some crooked banks, you will only end up in the street with nothing left if you start throwing tantrums at them or asking for compensations in contradiction of the terms you have agreed to.

    But i will try to explain it to you anyway with simple words : on the internet, s*** happens. Go do something else while it ends without being salty.

    As for the op, he sure didn't play a lot of different mmos to never have seen way worse elsewhere.

    Honestly, this isn't really comparable to bank loans. This is about customer satisfaction. If you provide a service and your paying customers cannot use that service for reasons outside of their control, obviously they will be bothered. It doesn't matter if you're under no legal obligation to provide compensation, if you do value your customers, you at least should consider some form of compensation (like, give something to all the crafters that wasted millions of gil of crafting materials because of server issues). It doesn't necessarily needs to be money or play time, but at least they should show that they care. Especially when the problem is so persistent and serious that it can potentially turn players away from the game.

    I don't think I have heard about anyone giving free game time because of a DDOS attack. Not saying it has never happened, just saying I don't recall ever reading something like that. Maybe Blizzard did that at the launch of WoD? I really can't remember.

    Usually free time is given if the lack of service is directly the fault of the company. For example an internal hardware malfunction at SE servers would count as this, but an attack from an external source does not. SE could give free time anyway if they want to to. It would be a nice gesture if they did, but they're certainly not legally obligated to.

    From my understanding SE can do very little about the present issue as the attacks are being done to internet backbones that are run by completely different companies with whom they have no affiliation with except for using their services. SE can't fix the internet because they don't run it.

    Blaming SE for this issue is akin to blaming a car manufacturer for a poorly designed vehicle even though it was driven on very rough terrain. Sure the car manufacturer can try to make better cars but that won't magically also fix the rough terrain. SE can take measures to decrease the risk and the intensity of DDOS attacks but this will not change the state of the internet backbones the game servers rely on.

    Yeah, I'm aware that DDOSING is part of the current problem but the EU data Center has been the laughingstock of this game for a while now.
    The EU data centre is the laughing stock of the game? This is news to me and I play there.
