There has been more posts than that on reddit over the last few weeks but since most of the posters did not report back I was never sure if I should even post them. One poster got an email that said that he has 10 days left, while in truth it was only three days. Another one posted the answer from the GMs where they said that it was reclaimed too early but people were still skeptic about this.

In the end its strange how this is still going on, either a lot of people wants to simply troll, made mistakes or there is some kind of truth to this. The accepted bug section even has one post about getting a message about the timer even though they have been inside their house.

I really hope that these are all mistakes and no single bug exists...that would make me at least feel a bit safer about not losing my house.

I hear about people getting 10 day notices but when I was waiting for my house to demo all I saw was a notice at 15 days and another at 3 days. Makes me wonder if the demolition process is run in batch with an interval other than daily. Like maybe weekly. If it is it might explain why maintenance seems to have an effect on some folks and not others if it results in skipped or duplicate demolition scans.

If that is the case why did SE state they would send them at specific times?

I don't know but I've come to the opinion you can't trust or take much of what SE says at face value. As I've said I received 15 and 3 day notices where others appear to have seen 10 day notice. Why the difference? Beats me. I'm just working on the premise that if we could determine some of the conditions when there is a lack of notification or problems reported with the timer maybe someone in SE will take interest and try to figure it out.

But the problem is, that if someone gets a notice that their house will demo in 10 days and that person might wait a few more days for a couple of reasons, than it might be too late because it was truly only 3 days that were left thus if they came back 4 days later they would have lost their house.

I also checked up everything (Spam, mail at the website) but I still did not get a notice at all and I was at 10 days for one house (Thankfully I knew when I had to go back). If people get different mails, wrong mails or no mails at all then maybe there is something wrong with the system and there should be another step involved so that people dont lose their house because of that.

The email has the earliest date/time the house will demolish, so regardless of 3 days, 10 days or whatever... the date is right there, they just have to read it.

Unfortunately email is guaranteed and this is no fault of SE. All they can do is hand the email to your provider and it's then their job to get it to your mailbox. Obviously it will vary by email system, but your junk email folder isn't all the emails you received. In most cases this is just the emails that are "probably junk". The ones your provider thinks are definitely junk will have been deleted or bounced before they even got to you.

You're only noticing the lack of this email because you're expecting it. The other ones you aren't getting you weren't expecting so you don't know they're missing.

I think in some cases it is SE's fault. Some players didn't realise their email was going to filter demolition notices into their junk or spam because all other emails from SE (for things such as mog station receipts, subscription payment notices, promotional emails, etc) get to their standard inbox just fine. I don't think that the players in cases like these can be blamed for expecting the demolition notices to also behave like all other emails from SE.

If the above is indeed happening then SE need to change something about the demolition notices. It's very misleading if a player has zero issue getting every other type of notice from SE.

If the topic of the mail has x days in it then I as a owner want this to be the right days and not see under the date that its in truth much less. Those things should be delievered with the right informations. So if you have only 3 days left than the email should state that in its topic.

I'm not denying that there is a problem but nobody from SE won't do a thing if some conditions can't be defined as to what happens. As I said I never saw a 10 day notice so why does someone get one of those or why did I get 15 and 3 day notices. This is regardless of when the 10 notice was received and might give some insight into what is happening. What did the delayed 10 day notice email show for time stamps and delivery route? Was it across maintenance windows? There is a lot more to looking at a problem than just saying it's broken. If I were SE I would keep an open problem report to collect this information but as they don't appear to be doing that it is left up to the players to do the problem determination for them.

I'm not even sure if conditions for problem notifications can be defined such that SE will do anything about it. Given their history I highly doubt they will do much of anything even if players can come up with a set of conditions that cause the error. I'm willing to bet if YoshiP could have his way he would just yank housing from the game entirely but realizes it's too late for that.

So the 10 day email notice was the way the system was set up originally. If you're getting 15 day email notices, something changed since then. Perhaps the notice period is different depending on whether the house was purchased before or after that change was implemented? They've done weirder things with their code.

This still wouldn't be a problem if people would just walk into their houses on occasion. Most players probably have a routine they follow after weekly reset to get tomestones capped, custom deliveries completed, etc. If they added walking into their house to that routine, demo notices would be a non-issue.

I doubt they'd yank housing from the game. Too many players enjoy it and it helps to keep them subscribed. I do expect to see a change in how housing gets updated in the future. Increasing the number of wards hasn't been an effective solution. They need to start adding more instanced options beyond the small apartments and FC rooms.
