I wish this game had a fingerprint reader like many smartphones have, this way there would less annoyance when using credentials for whatever, including logging into the game!...

The problem might have occurred if you first entered the wrong password in the online store and then had to enter the same password you use to play the game, Square Enix's online security must be as strong as the spaghetti code used in the game!...

That exact thing happened to me when I logged into the store I had logged into from my PC before to pre-order the Encyclopedia. When I went to log in a few minutes later, my account was flagged for "suspicious activity" and I had to go change my password.

I gave them a piece of my mind over the CS support e-mail. I will NOT be forced into using their shitty security token. The hoops you have to jump through if you need to remove it or transfer to another phone are just not worth it.

You just need to make sure to jot down the Emergency Removal Password. The hoops you have to jump through are if you misplace that and they have to verify your identity.

Which you need to log into the SE site and track down the spot for and be aware that you even need to have that before you actually end up needing to remove the token. The WoW token allows you to access all this information from the app itself, so you can keep a picture or jot it down before you transfer phones or attempt to remove it. It was very easy to transfer this when my hubby and I unexpectedly upgraded phones a couple of weekends back. It took a call to SE on the next business day (because of course why have weekend hours in a game that runs 24/7) to get his token removed.

It's bad customer service blackmailing your customers into using your non-user-friendly token by taking actions like this when they don't utilize it. In my instance, I didn't even type my password incorrectly. I just logged in. This sort of security measure for logging into a new device is invasive and needs to be something I opt into, as I told SE, not something they try to force on me.

It's just an extra thing to get in your way.
That is a mistaken assumption to make. Perfectly legitimate areas of the Internet rely on advertising. Advertising platforms are a vector for infection. Perfectly legitimate sites also can be hacked and your visiting that site, which would normally be safe, can put you at risk for anything a nefarious actor injects into the website to expose visitors to.

Just curious, but if you don't have anti-virus software, how do you scan your computer?

And without anti-virus software, how do you know something isn't running in the background without your knowledge since there's no software checking/alerting you of that?
