Aye, I know about the smartphone app - was just joking around.
Back then my phone didn't support said app, and didn't want to run emulator, so grabbed physical one. Now it's sitting happily next to another security token.

I went with a physical token simply because my phone comes with me everywhere. My security token doesn’t leave my room, so I’m unlikely to lose it.
Been gaming for over two decades across just about every mmo known to man. Never been hacked. I don't run anti-virus either and only scan my computer if I realize I have a reason for concern. You don't need something to protect you from being hacked so long as you aren't an idiot that goes to sites you shouldn't visit or opens attachments in your emails. It's just an extra thing to get in your way.Get one. Usually people see the need for it when it's too late. The security token makes it significantly more difficult for someone to hack your account. It also reduces the chances of being flagged for suspicious activity. It's free and is only a small extra step for logging in. The security token is a preventive measure so it works best to get it before you run into account related issues.

Unfortunately that isn't always enough to protect yourself. I know people who got hacked and didn't ask for it with silly behaviour or habits. You're less likely to if you're careful, but it doesn't eliminate the possibility.Been gaming for over two decades across just about every mmo known to man. Never been hacked. Do what you want of course. It's your pc and your account.
I deal with dual factor security tokens in my day job... So I specifically do not want to do it in my free time. The getting password locked just from logging in on a new device or location is annoying. I also play on multiple systems so trying to drag a security token around and having to find it or risk loosing it just because I'm in a differnt place... Also annoying. ...
Also what is there to hack for in this game? Unless your trying to be mean and delete characters, playing as another person does not have much benefit

Gil sellers can benefit greatly from hacking the accounts of wealthy players by selling the stolen gil to other players.
