This game is barely started.

This game is old. Not sure how get that it barely started. Game is almost 8 years old now.

Kids!
8 is pretty young. The original game is essentially legend and backstory for ARR so the playable story is only 5. It's only had 3 expansions with 1 esentually being the base game. We still don't have full access to the known world, and there may be even more.

I doubt we'll get another one anytime soon, but I'm sure SE is working on something to replace XIV (or XI). This game may not be that old, but the engine and source code is heavily limiting what the game could do or handle. It would be smart to start working on a new project as these past 5 years kinda showed us that there's not much they can really do with this game, currently anyways.

Right now it's too soon to start thinking about the next FF:MMO. Everyone knows this, and the guys at Sqaure-Enix know it's too early to announce something that hasn't even been planned yet.

they just talked about continuing FFXI for another ten years...
Do people really think SE wants yet another MMO under their umbrella?

I only started FF14 like 2 months ago because my new computer got a standard rating on the benchmark. When the game first came out my computer couldn't run it so I gave up on it back then.
I'm not a PC gamer so I won't bother getting a computer with all the fixings just for gaming. A new FF online game will be awesome but I won't be able to play it at start like FF14 I imagine.

If they were to make another MMO and they were smart, they would just rebuild XIV properly on an up-to-date engine and with no spaghetti code around, so that they could do way more with it than what they can do now. That way they would attract more players while still keeping the current ones, as essentially it would be the same game (same world, story, characters, community, etc., in other words, everything that makes people feel attached) but polished and improved. But I know that they won't do it, at least not beyond updating a thing here and there until the game dies. They've shown already that investing a lot of money here is not one of their priorities. Also, if they fixed the issues they would no longer have any "excuse" to make people pay for retainers and the likes, so... no.
Other than that, making a new MMO nowadays means taking a lot of risks, and I doubt that the money guys would be happy about that. Unless they make it F2P, which would be terrible news for the players, seeing how bad things are even with this one being P2P.
