    read guide use dummy...

Not any dummy but the ones that time your dps.

    Outside RR

if you clear them in time your meeting the dps check and it less likely your fault.

    1. Communities

I came from a world of competitive games (FPS, MOBAs) like Counter Strike, League of Legends, DotA 2, etc, and I have seen ugly faces of the communities in such games. To my experience, I have not seen much of a toxic behavior in MMORPGs so for the aspect of community I would recommend you to understand what is advises, what is criticism, and what is harassment. People who gives advises are those who are nice and selective in their words while communicating because they don't want to hurt each other's feeling. People who give criticism are those who are blunt and bold: they will point out your problem, analyze and criticize about it, but some will also give instructions on how to get over it. This type of people are a lot but you have to understand that sometimes truth can be harsh but it's the only way to realize your problem and learn from it. Usually they will not brag about your problems all the time. People who harass, however, will tend to do so because they do like to put the blame on someone else instead of looking into what makes the "PARTY" crumble from the start. Usually I'd ignore them, but if they are becoming more personal, I'll just blacklist them (SE should really do a favor of adding mute button in duties).

    2. Classes and skills.
Needless to say, if you are a dedicated player, watching tutorial/guide videos will be the best source. Else, if you are a chill player like me who learn things without the use of knowledge outside, then my suggestion is to play at the class you are really good at the most, and while you are playing with that class in duty, try to observe how people play in specific classes (how tank initiates, draw aggro, use CDs, similar to other classes). You also have to understand your roles and your responsibility while you are playing in a party in order to get the party through smoothly, or to determine whether it's your responsibility or theirs should the party fails at certain point. Remember to practice your combo with a practice dummy, and read your weaponskill/spell/ability description! Many people, for instance, say you have to turn on your Darkside and Grit at a certain point but not many new people understands why. It's because it gives you a bit of tankiness, Grit reduces 20% damage but Darkside increases 20% damage = nullify, but the con is you don't get MP regen in combat, which is crucial for your aggro spells like Unleash, etc. The point is, learn the stats and figure out how to use them properly at certain scenario.

    3. PvP.
<Error 404: Not Found> (Not a pvp player in MMORPGs)

    4. Communication
It is definitely an online game, which you have to communicate with other players. Communication is 1000% crucial in PvP, Duties, and almost every aspects in the game that involves interacting with other players (and I am not exaggerating about it). Even without communication, you have to learn and adapt to a certain member's behavior during duties (whether the tank will pull trashes wall to wall, whether the healer are confident with both of their healing and DPS or just healing alone, whether someone is new or not - there will be notification and you should know who is/are new when you right click their names and look at their search info). If you do not like how your parties is under-performing, or how a certain member is not playing at their full potential (not your expectation - you are not their mom/dad), speak out with a respectable manner saying you don't like this or that. If they refuse or respond with a disrespectful manner, ignore, blacklist, leave or votekick, your choice.

    5. Just a short advice. Play with friends is better than playing solo. If you prefer solo, that's fine, but you have to accept the fact that some party members will not be as nice as you think.

A bit of rant: I always tell peope who have no clue about their roles to spend 15 minutes of their lives to learn the role's basic at the smith. They don't listen.

I don't really point out other people's mistakes, because that would be hypocritical when I'm making mistakes, ya know? I'd like to think that I'm getting better, but I won't know until someone uploads my logs whenever this new raid is available on a certain website. I have resources and I've spent about 4-5 hours on average doing nothing but practicing on dummies/Anemos mobs up until about a week ago. I did that for about 2-3 weeks straight. The reason I don't really blacklist unless it's legitimately offensive or they actually do manage to get under my skin is due to how I just view things.

Maybe my situations have been harassment. Maybe not. If I become a target of somebody's "harassment", then I view it as not being on the level that I should be on. Though I admit, that might be just a tad little extreme, yes?

I spent my whole day in Atomus in Elemental server leveling up my new character there despite the high ping (and a bit of language but I still understand a bit of Japanese). Did two duties as an ARC and I had a bunch of fun there: people are chill and nice, no drama happens because everyone knew exactly what their roles were and I even joined a Japanese linkshell - no English speakers - and they really welcomed me warmly.

Guess the community are really different.

It's pretty different for everyone. Some people have to work really hard to understand something while others are "talented" - learn everything really quick and throughoutly. Maybe I'm the second type, even though I really wish I am like that in real life matters T-T

How very true. I think I'm a little bit obsessive over not making any mistakes. Irl is a different matter for me, but for some reason here, I feel like I just need to be a good player. I'll get there one day, hopefully before next expansion.

Chiming in here, but to me, you already are. Being a 'good' player, in my book, is being willing to learn and generally not repeating the same mistake twice within an instance. That's it. If everyone meets those two criteria, any content (besides Savage or Ultimate) is doable. And from what I've seen, you're both willing to learn - indeed, you're seeking advice - and I haven't seen instances where you've described making the same mistake repeatedly.

As an aside, I sometimes suffer from insecurity about my play as well. Usually my boyfriend and I are in the same room while we play, and he'll get the brunt of my stress (he plays a healer). One thing that he told me that helped is that damage-dealing roles really can't screw a run up all that badly, at least not on their own (again, outside of EX Primals, Savage, Ultimate). A bad damage-dealer, for him, means having to watch his MP levels if he ends up spamming Raise - and that's about it. They aren't mission-critical in and of themselves. If he's paired with a terrible healer, though, or we get a bad tank? Then runs can go sideways fairly quickly. All this to say, if you're playing something like Ninja and people are picking on your performance, it's almost certainly because they're just looking for someone else to blame. I'd try not to worry about it too much, and just remember: the worst that happens if you're on a damage-dealer is you cost someone a chunk of MP for a Raise.

But I am trying to get better, yes. I'd been hoping to get logged so I'd know (and not encroach on that don't ask, don't tell policy), but so far nothing. so I genuinely don't know if I'm doing decent or not. Nobody's said anything to me or about my play since the patch...but that doesn't really mean anything, either.

The software you are referring to needed to be updated and the first stable and working release was yesterday.
Also the website you talked about needs an update as well, new fights need to be implemented, but that will take another week or two because they have to update the whole source code as far as I heard.

Anyways, I know I am on another data center and all, but I really sympathise with some statements you made so feel free to hit me up on discord to have a chat and maybe I can help you on a few things as well. ^^

If you just want an idea on wether or not your general ninja-rotation is decent or not, I'd recommend you just try Stone, Sky, Sea for a fight that fits the ilvl of your ninja and see how close you get to beating it. It wont be an accurate representation of how well you'd be doing in the actual fight, because of the lack of mechanics obviously, but it will give you an idea in regards to your rotation (and as I mentioned: I think having that down in your sleep first is a good idea, because it frees you to pay attention to mechanics and to your fellow teammates, allowing you to make better use of your support-skills).

I might be out of line here, but... considering your experience with a certain website... are you really sure you wanna look yourself up there again? Maybe you can achieve knowledge of wether or not you're a decent ninja without putting you at risk of spiraling out of control again by giving SSS a go first?
