Mannequins were a great idea. Implementation is horrible.

I have to fiddle around with this, but why would you want to display a piece that has a glamour tied to it? Why not just display the glamour itself? I might be misunderstanding your intention, but I would think ideally you'll want to use glamour items for display purposes. If you have discarded the glamour piece, you'll just have to reacquire it. You wouldn't want to glamour items you intend to sale because the buyer may not like it, nor want to pay 500 Gil to remove it.

If I want to display a mogstation item I have to put the actual item on the mannequin, so then if I ever want to use it myself I have to go and take it off the mannequin.

If I glamour Kurenai or my squadron with that item then I still get to keep the item in my inventory.

As a side note while I'm posting, changing mannequin poses is actually animated as if it were a person and that is creepy.

But you're not glamming it. Putting it on the mannequin is akin to equipping to yourself or a retainer. Why would you expect to still have access to it? If you want to retain access to the glamour item, then you have to glamour it to something you don't care to have access to, and put that on the mannequin. Again, these were not implemented to increase space. However, you can use them to free up retainer, armory, and inventory space. As an example, I am sitting on fully augmented ironwork sets for all jobs I have under 50. As soon as I log on, I plan on purchasing four mannequins to toss those sets onto.

Yeah, some of them I can buy again from calamity salvager. But there are also cash shop items, which are one-of-a-kind.

EDIT: Not to mention some of the items are more difficult to attain if I wish to get more. Wolf marks, raid rewards, rare dyes, etc.

First off, I would hope that you have not discarded cash shop items, event items, and the like after using them as glamours. When I spoke of reacquiring a glamour, I refer to more disposable gear like dungeon and raid drops.

And you answered your own question. If you like the item enough to use as a glamour, then why would you put it on a mannequin? SE made it pretty clear that they are for display and market board purchases. The issue you have is you are trying to use the mannequins other than as intended. This is made clear here:

No. You created expectations based on false pretenses on how the mannequins would work and are attempting to place the fault in SEs hands. This is what is known as complete denial of accountability. It's ok to be disappointed that this system doesn't work how you would like it to, but I'm afraid your frustration is misdirected.

And this is FFXIV for crying out loud. Is this your first time going through a major patch? If you expect things to be perfect on release day... ouch! What you can expect is at least two emergency maintenances between now and this time next week.

Ah. Well that settles that part of the matter then. Perhaps in a future patch that will get changed. My point remains the same though. Still having access to your glamours is not the intention of the mannequins. There is glamour dresser and the old glamour system for those purposes.

If your issue is that you still need to be able to apply the item as a glamour while leaving it on the mannequin, you could save the item onto a glamour plate and then take it back out of the dresser/armoire. The item image will remain on the plate until you directly replace it - useful if you want gear for a glamour but also still need to use it as actual gear.

So is it just on my end that I can just remove the equipment from my retainers sell list and the mannequins stay decorated?
