    Mistakes as a sprout:

Before playing the game, Scholar sounded like the coolest job for me. So I started off as an Arcanist.Initially, I would focus on healing in dungeons facepalmcringe not realizing that Arcanist was a DPS class and that I became Green at level 30.

Casting Aldo/Regen on tanks before pulls.

    Overhealing

Running away from the tank when drawing aggro.

    Mistakes until level 50:

    Not having Eos/Selene on obey.

Not understanding GCDs,oGCDs,weaving and using Eos for maxmising my DPS and minimizing healing.

    Present Mistakes:

    Overhealing

Not using Aetherflow/Energy Drain efficiently,(managing cooldown times etc)

Not using Shadowflare enough. I really hate the lag/'stickiness' of the response time of Shadowflare. Looking forward to this being fixed in 4.4.

Just remembered, huge goof-up, when I was leveling 2nd healer(WHM) through POTD. POTD had quietened down, so I thought I'd run Duty Roulette (Level 16 Leveling). I had forgotten that level 60 dungeons would pop-up since I had cleared MSQ on my SCH.

I was in Ironworks gear and...The Vault popped up. I still feel bad for the party who had to put up with me and trying so hard to make it work. In the end, I asked them to vote-kick me.

Just a note, that aldo (unlike regen) before a pull is perfectly fine and will not get you any healer aggro. When I SCH heal I always try to aldo the thank pre-pull as it gives me more time to spread my DoTs and otherwise dps before I have to start healing again. You just gotta be careful and make sure that you get the cast off before the tank engages any mobs or you'll get aggro like with any other healing spell.

Hmm, I used to do that prior to level 50 and it always seemed to draw aggro. Maybe, I've was not getting the cast off before the tank engaged any mobs and it seemed like Regen drawing aggro.

Thanks, I'll give pre-pull Aldo a go again!

I've had that happen to me soooo many times, casting it and the tank runs off and pulls before the cast finishes. To prevent that I like to throw it on the tank immediately after the last mob of a pull dies. In fact, if the mob will die before I can get one more ruin off, then I often start casting it before it even goes down. If the tank is faster than the average tortoise, then there are very few dungeons where it'll fall off before we reach the next trash packs.

lol, I've been online since the 90's, been playing MMOs since 2000, played other multi-player online RPGs since 1997, been playing D&D since I was in Jr High School in the mid 80's.

I've seen it all, I've done it all.

Let's say, I'm coming back to this game after being away since 2016. My main, is a Tank, a Warrior, even though don't have the newb sprout I've got the returner flower pot, and I feel like a Newb again, only at level 53. I forgot how to use Return in a dungeon, how to use Overpower to gain aggro, and a few other things. Granted I'm fast on relearning, but this week has been full of big newb moments.

It's times like this people think I'm a blonde.

Don't worry, if you see me again, I'll do better, promise!

The first class I leveled was pugilist, and I had no idea that positionals were a thing. So I didn't really understand them until I was watching a video for a dungeon I hadn't done before from a monk's point of view. I was confused as to why the monk was moving around so much. Then I read all my tooltips and finally understood.

But like everyone else, I still make mistakes. One of the one I was guilty of several times while I was lvling both MCH and BRD (two classes I rarely play) was right-clicking on the boss while waiting for the pull.
I main Hunter in WOW, so I'm mentally prepared not to click until the pull. I also check my target when Tabing, Because Ranged always makes that mistake. Granted, I need to level MCH, just love the guns.

Everyone was "that" player when they started - except for being a butt in chat - that has nothing to do with how new you might be. Game experience doesn't change your personality.

That's exactly why. You will want to make sure to get the cast off before the tank engages any mobs. I know sometimes the windows between pulls can be tight. Don't be afraid to swiftcast an adlo if you feel it is needed. Another thing to practice is to start casting adlo when the last mob of the current pull is almost dead so neither you or the tank miss a beat. The timing of this becomes second nature after awhile.

To add, pre pull regen can sometimes be ok. It is ok to do this if only a single target is going to be engaged like a dungeon boss, mini boss, trial etc. Unless the tank derps and sight aggros the boss, you will not get hate.

Absolutely. I was more thinking along the lines of saying things that didn't exactly translate well, or perhaps losing patience and saying things you regret later. Earlier in the topic, there was a post about swearing at people and then feeling bad about it later (I hope I read that right). I can completely understand typing things out of anger and realizing later, "Wow...that was really stupid of me."

I guess a good story I can tell is that when I just started healing, I came up to Cutter's Cry. I didn't know I was suppose to kite the ants in which the tank very kindly took them off me. The tank informs me that they thought I was going to kite and was sorry for not picking them up sooner. In my arrogant pride, I "lol'd" and said "who told you that?!" realizing I was completely in the wrong in both strategy and how I should had responded. In hindsight, I should have just listened better.
