"The player who pulls and isn't a tank"
"The player who has no idea what their rotation is"
"The player who is a complete butt in chat"
"The player who ignores advice, only to find out the advice was correct later on"
Etc.
Etc.
*Tears*
Unfortunately, if you can name it, I've probably been it at some point. I like to think I have a good understanding to how the mechanics work in this game (been playing for a couple of years now, maybe more) and I still find myself screwing up more times than I care to admit, losing my patience to silly things, or literally running around having no idea to what I am doing, hoping for the best (it usually never is).
I like to think I've come a long way since my days of being a sprout, and I wanted to see if anyone would care enough (or be brave enough) to share their stories of their younger days being a new player and the mistakes they've made along the way.
Here's my story just to break the ice:
This was my first MMO, so the concept of Tank and DPS eluded me. My first class was a LNC (I really wanted that Dragoon). The first time I entered a dungeon I literally pulled EVERYTHING! Needless to say, I died...a lot. And I'm sure the healer absolutely hated me. In chat, I read "let the tank pull" followed by "stop pulling."
I had no idea what they were talking about.
The funny part is, I was wearing full DoM gear. I thought I looked cool in the hood. This wouldn't be corrected until I joined my first FC and a couple of members told me what I was doing wrong. This was back when you had to get two classes leveled to receive a job. So, when it was time to get a lv.15 MRD, you can kind of guess how that went down. I pulled everything...after everyone else. I didn't know that Tanks had to pull first or lead the dungeon. Gratefully, the party I was with was very patient and explained some of the more foreign concepts to me.
