Started this game over a month now so I'm guilty of running away from drgs cause of that. Still learning what is a job's move and not a boss's mechanic. Granted the thread on tales of duty finder helped improve my gameplay by a lot.

People tend to be very quiet in dungeon runs so I can see why most people will usually play a job without proper guidance. Online job guides aren't helpful if they are outdated and SE tends to change jobs abilities by patches and expansion.

Oh ive been playing MMOs for quite a long time before FFXIV, ad my disposition in game is always be nice to others so I haven't ever really had a derpy moment. I knew about "rotations" a few years before ...well..a loong time ago in other mmos lol

Sure I rage quit on some trials here and there (but rage in silence) but I never had those moments in this game.

HOWEVER, when I first started MMOs, I was utterly lost about classes. I played a paladin in one MMO because I like swords and boards but I had no idea I was a tank.

This was my first mistake here when I started FFXIV, which was pretty bad since I came from FFXI to this game. xD

I picked Gladiator, just cause I liked the Sword/Shield concept, never even knowing that it was a tank until my very first dungeon.

So yea, I feel your pain on that one. ^^

I am also gulity of thinking Provoke worked just like it did in FFXI, and spammed it without something else to back it up.

Are we talking just FFXIV or mmos in general? I started playing mmos when I was an immature teen, and even though I have always been polite in nature, my lack of mmo experience shined much brighter in those days. Doing newb things like MPK unintentionally, or using the wrong lingo, not realizing a player is flirting with me, or making fun of me, equipping inferior items because they look better. Things like that.

I came into FFXIV as an adult, and with more mmo experience. I'm not as naïve, but I am also not exempt from making some really silly blunders like pull a boss when I am not tanking. These kind of things though are always unintentional. The biggest difference between early me, and me now is I am far more respectful of other people's time. Back then, because I had played solo games on consoles forever, the concept of multiplayer and teaming up with others to accomplish goals was very new to me.

So was I bad player at some point? You betcha! Maybe I still am. But I always try to be a better player than I was yesterday.

When I first started PVPing, back when we had an arena, I got disoriented and ran right into the enemy team's base. Fortunately this was also back when we had chat, so my team was like YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAAAAAYY!

This is exactly what should be done; kill the thought of it being optional. AOE tank or reroll.

Oh, here's another one I remember.

I think around the time I was on Heavensward, I started a boss fight with everyone as Red Mage. Can't remember the dungeon, but I do remember doing my full sword combo and then using Displacement which accidentally launched me out of the boss arena.

One second before the barrier locked off the arena.
