The reddit thread also states anyone can get an 80 without any of the key items by simply using the right dyes they have listed. Haven't tried it yet myself but considering how generous scoring is compared to the past I wouldn't doubt it.

If you don't need any of the items to get an 80, then there's really no reason to be upset about the item choice. Getting a 100 is only useful once for title and achievement so there's no reason to try to get it every week if some weeks require items you don't have.

For those who would like to know, here's the dye list for this week from the reddit thread (credit to poster RyonAltemis):

How do people work out the exact dyes anyway? Do a whole lot of people go there with the same items dyed different colours? There's so much variability with multiple item slots to test.

Wear an item you know is wrong with any dye on it(you can test multiple slots at once, just have to pay slightly more attention to detail). If the item is still one star, you know that the color family is wrong(so if ice blue is 1 star you can rule out all blue dyes for that slot). Once you find the right base color, you can tell based on how many points you scored whether it was a 1 or 2 point dye. If its two mark down the exact shade(cactaur green), if its 1 try another shade(hunter green?). It isnt uncommon for more then one slot to share a color(if marsh green worked for legs and gloves are also green its likely to work for those too), but most weeks have at least 3 unique colors. One person with a couple alts can get all the color families sorted out(and some specific shades if they get lucky), share that info with a handful of other people who want to sort it out and you can get all the color possibilities tested within a few minutes. Afterall, you only need level 15 and access to the saucer and each alt can run 3 or 4 tests(depending on if you care that your alts get 80+ points).

Week 31 using my Bard for 94 /100. "Plague of the skies"

Head: Any with a salmon pink dye
Body: Sky Rat harness of Aiming-soot black dye
Hands: Shire Conservator's Gloves from Hismena in Idyl. for 245 Poetics.
legs: (had this) Chimerical felt skirt-soot black
Feet: Any with slate gray dye.

I didn't have the Alexandrian neck saved so I just used my 370 tome one.

I got gold with Hempen Undershort, Felt Kecks & Dravanian Choker of Slaying, but 1 starred with Endless Summer Sandals for a total of 95.

Maybe the Endless Summer gear is ‘too new’ and didn’t get tagged for Fashion Report when it was added? Have any recent items worked in other weeks?

I scored 87 using the hempen camise and Moonfire sandals.

The male Auri starter-gear sandals also get a gold mark.

Bridesmaid sandals also worked this week. There was also a fairly low level "hard leather sandal" on the gear merchant in town. I used bridesmaid which i already had, hempen camise, and i think they were hempen kecks(another merchant item) for a 95.

Ultima Horns for head, Demon Caligae of Scouting for feet, and [whatever swimsuit top you exchanged the cascadier uniform voucher for] for the chest piece are all gold. Any 2 of these should net 80 points (I got it with just the Black Summer Halter and the Caligae).
Also, "the Coil that Binds" for a ring pretty obviously hints towards Binding Coil, should be fairly easy to get something out of there unsynced.
I'd also assume the summoner horns and maybe the PvP unicorn horn for bards should count for head, and there are a bunch of other caligae in the game, so looks like it shouldn't be a hard week.
