STORY #8
Behold! Ugh, guys if you don't know a fight or see if it isn't working the way you are doing it, don't rage quit the duty and figure out together what is going on.
Essentially, the party wasn't stunning the boss when he does the AoE attack, so after our first wipe I let them know you can't hit the boss when he reflects, and they need to use Spindly Finger to Stun him when he does the AoE. Says right up there. But nope.
They refused to get the adds, so the NPCs all died, and they kept shooting the boss when it was spinning around and reflecting the shots. So we wiped again.
I didn't think what I said was rude. Sadly no way to bold something so I said it in caps in case they missed it the second time. And where the tank got the idea to ignore the adds? Each time I've done this fight you can't ignore them, because they kill the NPCs then harry those at the cannons.
/sigh

It sounds like at most you maybe made a small mistake, and the OT made a large mistake and decided to blame you for it. Your small mistake was with Diversion. Diversion doesnt do anything about hate youve already generated, it just decreases the hate you will generate for the next 30 seconds. You activate it(typically) during your opener shortly before the "going ham" portion starts, and for longer fights you can reactivate it after the cooldown to mitigate any burstiness. The idea being, use it early and you never should get to the top of the list. The OTs mistake? Ravanna does an attack after the ultimate on the 2nd hate target that cleaves a fairly large cone and hits several times in a row(supurana? that doesnt quite seem like the right name but i dont feel like looking it up). So he needed to be 2nd hate and to stand apart from everyone to safely divert that attack anyway, let alone if the MT was going to die and the boss was going to get loose. And as a tank, he has great tools to help get himself to 2nd hate if he wanted to(whereas you have much more limited tools to NOT be 2nd hate as most DPS classes). So you maybe used diversion late(without being there i cant say for sure), and maybe had a 2nd enmity dump you could have used(class dependent) but didnt. He either didnt know about the cleave(though his blaming you for it sure makes it sound like he did) or just didnt do his job to be the one taking said cleave(which could have been done in one or two button presses even if he was miles behind on hate). Id classify that as "Fragile Idiot Blamed Me To Feel Better About Himself", and put them out of my mind. And if ultimately you do think you might be doing diversion wrong, its always something you can work on(not for them - screw them, but for you).
Is there a particular reason tanks love prematurely pulling on Labyrinth of the Ancients? It's not infuriating since it hasn't resulted in any wipes yet but seeing '4 on the pad' 'everyone got forced into the A platform because one of the tanks pulled before everyone got here' every time I run LotA on Roulette gets annoying.
Can they not just use the Ready Check?
Queued for trial roulette. Get Shiva. Level 60 pally is the only one in cutscene. Ok no problems so far, and there's bonus, great. Pally doesn't mt or attempt to grab adds, but nothing that really messed up the run. At the end of the run the pally says "WAO I took a lot of damage for a healer". RIP
Yeah, I need to work on that part with diversion. I've been mainly using ninja, so I'm used to shadewalker, but I don't have that in Ravana HM. Mistakes are still mistakes, so I can take the hit on that. I have noticed that, aside from Sigmascape, I've been generating ridiculous aggro after Shsdewalker in 8mans, even after throwing up diversion. I actually timed it today and it takes me about a minute to go from 6 or 7 with shadewalker to 2-3 on the aggro list in most of my runs. Not sure what I'm doing wrong after I use my enmity dump in diversion.
It may be related to the parties you're in. In the calculation of enmity for the list you don't really know where everyone is in relation to each other. To put it plainly if your parties mostly suck you'll sweep past them in enmity very quickly by simply performing well.Yeah, I need to work on that part with diversion. In the last few days I recall an o7n via normal raid roulette where I used Diversion in my opener (not really an option on RDM) and shot to second as it ended. I popped Lucid as soon as it was feasible and... was still second.
Then a friend mentioned how poor dps was and how the MT WAR was doing the second highest damage. The run ended with more than 2k difference between me and the next dps (the war) and so even though I was sitting at second for the vast majority of the fight (I started popping Diversion on CD for passive threat reduction, it helped) I was perfectly safe because the gap between me and the MT was the same size it just didn't happen to have any other people in it.
Also it isn't odd for a dps or healer to be second in threat. An OT only needs to provoke to jump above someone. Unless there is an OT mechanic like Lakshmi's cone DPS have no reason to keep themselves below the OT.
It seems like the OT was just stupid. If he can't pay attention and do his job (take over tanking when the MT dies) he has no room to talk. I would take that vote kick with pride - who doesn't want a 'different playstyle' from people like that?
A lot of OTs sadly seem to want to be DPS while riding the tank queue. But if you're a tank in there, and there's a need for a tank, you need to put on your big boy pants and get in the robot, Shinji. Sounds like a bunch of cry-babies.
Goodness, yes
I finally started leveling a DPS class, and was farming Brayflox's Longstop for XP. We had a tank that was new, but that's ok with me we all start somewhere, and i never get mad at anyone for making a mistake because i'm really in no rush when I play this game. On the last boss the tank would not move out of the poison so we end up wiping. The other DPS and healer start talking trash to him, and kicked him before i could say anything. I asked why did you kick him he was new. they said they didn't have time to waste. Why are People are so impatient and mean. I tried to private message the person to tell them to keep there head up but i think he already got offline. I felt so bad even though there is nothing I could of done. I hope he don't give up tanking because other than that fight he did a great job, even though the other DPS was pulling ahead of him.
