Relic is at least mid-core content.

You need at least to read a guide for any Relic, thats not casual. Any casual content I can just do it first time without any trouble. Doing any relic all by yourself is really difficult without any guide. And it's really time consuming too.
I can't believe that it is casual for you. That would be the first casual content that I actually needed to read a guide.

I'm sorry, but...read a guide to do a relic ?

Why would you need a guide, when everything is explained IG ? Farm this, bring me X of those items, that you can get from tomestone, do X dungeon to please your weapon, do light so you weapon grow stronger...None of those things need a guide.
There isn't more casual content than the relic weapon.
The first steps of the Relic back in the beginning of ARR was midcore. You had to do HM version of the primals, and Titan in ilvl60 wasn't a joke, plus everyone was learning how FFXIV end game content worked.

Since then, it has been very, very casual all along. Also very time consuming, but easy.

And I have to say, I miss the very first relic before Atma. A mix of semi-difficult content, a little farm, some dungeons, a little crafting involved. THAT was fun. Granted if was too quick to finish, but I liked the diversity, and the semi-hard content involved.

But man I hate the new one. I hate the FATE train. I hate the mindless grinding, the dumb mobs, the soulcrushing repetition of the same rotation on the same mobs for hours, without chat, without fun.

And before you talk about "hard content" that souldn't be fun, I played FFXI, a lot. We had our share of long, grindy content and in some points, it was wayyy worse that this. But the gameplay and the reward made it ok.
