Except it takes away that mark of being one of the few peoples who CAN display that because they earned it at that limited time. It's not like it's an event mogstation item that anyone could have gotten by simply logging in and following a few chatty questlines, you had to defeat the hardest battle in 1.0.
I'm not even a 1.0 player and I can see why this would leave 1.0 vets miffed.
That's funny because I'll store this item and forget about it. It's nothing I'll ever use. Are you somehow insulted over that? strange. The lodestone has announced the new Rising event.
I want to express my fervent disappointment in the decision to bring a Trophy item like this back and just hand it out like it means nothing.
This item is a direct symbol of the games origins but most of all, to those of us who earned it through battle.. well its a message that nothing in this game is worth anything.
This seems backwards to me. SE made the decision to let certain items carry over from 1.0. Mementos from another game and a special treat to those who spent their time and money playing it. Now we have a playerbase who is wanting these special items released to the general public, and when people take a stance against it, they get called snowflakes or entitled. Who exactly are the entitled ones?
That would still be the ones that want it exclusively for themselves. People made a request. SE answered. They didn't even put it on Mog Station. This seems backwards to me. it was his great special price for beating the hardest boss in 1.0.
and now everyone will get it basically for free, and the earrings will lose all value as a trophy.
and for what? that people will throw it like some trash into the armoire and forget about them? great reason to take away his trophy...
ARR players don't deserve anything from 1.0, and yet they are constantly trying to appeal SE to release them. People who have never touched foot in 1.0 but still feel that they deserve to have these items suffer from entitlement issues.
The only value the earrings had before was as a memento. That value will be the same afterward.
Value as a trophy was none and zero before, since nobody else cared about what had been done to get the earrings.
Same thing for all other item rewards in the game - they will impress nobody else, and have zero value as trophies.
That's a request, which is different from feeling entitled. Feeling other people should not be allowed to have them is some capacity, whether earned, bought, or handed out like candy, is entitlement.
Edit: They aren't trophies, but you can use your stories to inform people on what 1.X was like, including that fight. People don't respect someone with the "This is my trophy" mentality for playing a video game at an earlier point. Who are you trying to impress? Tell your story to anyone that wants to hear it. You'll be glad you did. It'll bring back memories.
