Why do you all feel FFXIV is a sequel to FFXI?

Am I bashing the english.... not really but it is true that no one chats in parties anymore. Least the ones I was in. I even tried getting convo started and was told stfu.

You have one experience where someone told you to quote, "stfu" and now you lump everyone into "Most english parties". I think it is you who needs to think before spewing your venom over the forum board. I'm quite surprised you only had one encounter like this because I have first hand seen many people on this board tell you to stop with your tactless posting.

it feels like ffxi party 2 to me as well, kinda. it felt a little fresher at beta/start of launch but now with every patch it's getting more and more like ffxi clone. probably will all there screw ups they just saving the game by giving us a ffxi part 2 rather then going in a fresher path.

but it's not the good things that make me feel like i'm in ffxi, all the things i liked aren't there, it's all the monotemy, and the things that i did not like in ffxi that give ffxiv that feeling like it's ffxi. it has been 6months and i already feel like i've been playing this game for 5years. it took 700days of game play to get to this feeling that 6months of ffxiv has already put me.

if they keep going with the changes maybe it can turn for the good, or it can turn to shit lol. time will tell wtf they is doing.

plenty of final fantasy games feel dramatically different from eachother but the last 5 in particular are sweepingly different.

10 doesnt play like 11 doesnt play like 12 doesnt play like 13 doesnt play like 14 really.

Really even the turn based ones often had some pretty different technical systems in place.

It's not so much that the game should be like FFXI or WOW, It is more like FFXIV should be Better than FFXI and WOW. SE Should have been able to look at what has worked so far in the history of MMO's and what hasn't, and improve. That's what people are used to from SE, setting the bar.

FFXIV didn't set the bar and not because it was different from FFXI or WOW, but because it had/had so many bugs or issues that have already been solved by other MMO's before it and also because it missing so much content that is now seen as very basic for a modern MMO.

The comparison to other games is more about how strange it is to see SE stumble a step or two backwards from what is expected from them instead of the leap forward we are so used to enjoying.

It's the same spells, mobs, and currency as well.

Yet.... Crafty devs at Square-Enix can craft a compelling story, group of characters, amazing graphics with each successive iteration. They reinvent the gameplay to make each game different, the world is different even though it needs saving.

Amazingly everytime, they change just enough to make it enough different to buy again. Story and graphics are my main draw.

And the story cutscenes and graphics is what drew me to FFXIV. It's just to bad that there really isn't that many they are so well done with what is here.

So yeah, nearly every FF game is the same game just reinvented. So in a sense this is XI just reinvented to make a new MMO!

This is the same basic story for every game, and movie, and tv show(except seinfeld), and book.

The fact that this series is so popular is a testiment to the fact that Square knows how to do it well.
