u meen like a forum moderator from a fanboy site no one cares about? This forum is actually one of the more civil forums I've ever seen. You guys don't even have any good trolls. The problem here is that every single thread turns into a myopic shitstorm. The guy who says he doesn't agree with something is immediately labeled a dissenter and a troll. The guy who defends the game is labeled a fanboy. Eventually it turns into a, "My opinion is right because it is" thread.
I hope people like that don't have a job that requires communication because they suck at it.
Thank you, someone had to say it; though you forgot the other type of person, the ones who brings up an off-topic personal attack for no reason. This forum is actually one of the more civil forums I've ever seen. If you think it's bad now, let me remind you that nothing concentrates the sense of entitlement quite like a paying customer. And will the return of subscription payments mean a nicer, friendlier forum atmosphere for all who are staying? I can only hope so.
Am I the only person who thinks that the resumption (is that a word?) of the subscription service can only mean good things for the health of these forums?
I predict the bickering is only going to get worse because people will have the attitude that, "I'm a paying customer and the customer is always right. How dare these other customers not understand that I'm always right?" You can just feel the good times from here.

This could happen, but a majority of the people that do play and enjoy the game don't come to the forums I've noticed. If you think it's bad now, let me remind you that nothing concentrates the sense of entitlement quite like a paying customer.

I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.

It is crazy what the power of Money can do, eh?

Line 1 - Bots weren't allowed to do 'whatever they want' because when SE shut down one, someone sprung up with another and kept it in a closed circle (generally BG forum users kept it among themselves, thus why there's hate for people who use that forum sometimes.) Did we also forget the Salvage ban? How people assumed SE was just playing around when they said they would keep an eye on the situation (investigate further) and people took it as a challenge and continued to do it then ended up banned along with their entire cheating linkshells? If you played the game then, it was hard to miss the fallout of "big names being banned" and how it spelled "the end of FFXI now that we're gone."^ this
In XI all the bots were allowed to do w/e they wanted and not get in trouble, banned, or even warnings.
In XI RMTs were rampant, everyone knew who the RMTs were, SE did not care.
In XI if you report a botter, you get the typical automated response "we will investigate this matter further", and if you sent in the report multiple times you were the one that got suspended. LOL@SE
Now then...flame me trolls...flame me....
This was 2009, so yes SE does care but they're doing their best to not do what other companies practice - Installing spyware and monitoring software on your system.
Line 2 - RMT was only rampant in 2003-2005 to capitalize on Americans joining the game and the need to catch up to the Japanese players. Everyone knew who RMT were, SE sees it as people playing because RMT only did 2 things differently:
1. Follow each other in a train like fashion
2. Always anon with face > keyboard names.
Everything else, like underleveled/lack of subjob/constantly farming x mob for silk thread etc is no different from a new player to the game or a person who plays the game badly/does nothing but farm. It's not that SE didn't care (or we all would still be floating around with 100s of millions from the $1/million RMT Xmas sell because it's quite likely most of the playerbase said screw morales and bought a few million that time) it's the fact you also had people reporting normal players as RMT simply because they lost claim on an NM.
Line 3 - All companies tell you they'll investigate further and it's a common EULA that you're not supposed to spam reports after you've been contacted -- It's in EULAs for even unrelated products like web hosting.
Yep, it's a lot less doom and gloom on Mysidia from what I noticed.
