We don't die to our own. Other people screwing them up, on the other hand... Do you know how many times I've survived botched mechanics with single/double digit HP while being surrounded by corpses?

As indicated by this post here, I just wanted to confirm that this content will indeed be permanent so we encourage all of you to take on the mighty Rathalos to your hearts' content!

It ain't going anywhere. The trial will always be available, just like how all other trials have been. Lightning event etc. were all FATE based.

Also the MH collab stuff actually requires a lot of effort to get to (i.e. owning SB, getting to lvl 70, reaching the ilvl requirement etc), so players need the time to get there to enjoy the content to begin with. The normal event stuff (FATEs, mini quests etc) we get is generally available to everyone with the base game (no expacs required) and level needed to do them is never that high either so it's generally easier to have them for a limited time and then repeat again a year later.

It's nice that MH will have a permanent status through the use of trials, it sets it up for a long legacy (whether players like it or not).
