Honestly, there are already enough of them in this game. If people wanted to wear them with this set, then they could choose from those. Instead, we miss out on some decent legwear for this set.
Sounds like the designers achieved their goal.

No really. Have people LOOKED at the female set? I can live, grudgingly, with the lack of the nice coat. FINE. Not happy, but FINE.
I'm actually rather offended with the panties. They're straight up panties.
That's not even like... a skirt or shorts or... yeah no. Wyvern... scale... panties.
I might use PARTS of this set for a galmour. I despise 'frilly' 'cute' 'revealing' outfits for the most part. I don't do the 'doll' thing. So the boots and the gloves have my interest. But wyvern scale panties just... yeah no. All kinds of 'wtf mate?'
I'm not keen on the male set myself. I was hoping for something a bit more on the wild side. At least the augmented torso would look okay in a battlemage glam, I suppose. Overall, very disappointing.
Actually, breakable parts were planned from the start but they couldn't get approval under the Teen rating. They either needed to severely tone it down or have a M rating for one piece of content. Not a big fan of most Monster Hunter sets myself but I admit I was a little underwhelmed with their interpretation of it, especially since they had tried to get breakable parts into the game but didn't have the time to - and considering the effort the MHW team had to put in on their side - a little part of me wondered if the effort was mutual. Perhaps my ignorance about all that's involved is making me unfair though.
I would assume the lead designer is the one responsible, with all the incredibly samey gear we get. Like they just made a sorta rathalos texture for the tank coat model that they love so much.
I don't particularly mind the armor, however I am not a fan of Monster Hunter and the bulky aesthetic their armors have is unappealing to me anyways.
I find that...odd considering that MH has maintained its T rating despite being bloodier and having more graphic violence, which includes being able to remove parts (Though it's generally limited to tails, horns, and other unimportant parts that wouldn't impede the monsters very much).
I'd assume it's because that coupled with the existing things that got XIV its T rating would've pushed it over the edge?
