I never did Gordias when it was relevant; I didn’t do it until LONG after it was nerfed and made irrelevant, and I will agree that it was poorly tested and tuned. But some of the fights (Oppressor, Living Liquid) just seemed better than some of the tiers after it. The best raid tier award goes to Midas, though. Most raiders tend to agree that, outside of Coil, it’s the best.
Gordias was such a hardline dps check that if your job wasn't in the meta, there was no real way you could get into a static, far more than at any other point in the game's recent history. It was so bad that even Yoshi admitted they messed up with the difficulty, and it was even pointed out that 98% of all Gordias Savage clear groups involved a Scholar because of their effective dps as a healer.

In fact, I'd argue that Midas was only good because of how bad the previous raid tier was. No matter how bad any other raid tier may be, Gordias is the only one post-ARR where devs openly said "we messed up" in regard to any raid tier.
