Hurray so does this mean we can keep on PowerLeveling ? even after 1.20 ?

I would be happy (for now) if we could just enter Ifrit without exactly 8 people. :'(

I'm also against level sync, I work hard on my character to level it high and equip the best gears. If I want to help my friends out on lowbie instances or help people out on instances I should be able to, and it is my choice! I want to feel special helping lowbies run through instances where they will be grateful and make me feel good inside after running through it. The other annoying thing about level sync is that when you cap to lower level, all your high gear you cannot use anymore making it pointless. You now have to carry every different kind of set for every level. Can get very tedious, time consuming and waste tons of inventory slot! No sync please, just lower the requirement of party for Instances.

And what about exp distribution? Will the higher level that got sync earn crappy exp because it a lowbie area? How is that fun? More grind? If you do a level sync, it will only head in one direction and that is DEAD END.

Your personal feelings are valid, as is your opinion. But I remember Level Syncing syncing your equipment to match the level you synced to, so you don't need to carry extra equipment. You can use your high level gear. It won't be tedious. It won't waste tons of inventory space.

As for your XP question, it depends on how they implement it. But if the point is to help other people, earn their gratitude, and feel good about it (as you say) ... then why does the XP matter?

And how do you know this? You know in FFXIV wearing a very high level gear on a low level Character will be like you not wearing anything at all. The penalty is very harsh. I haven't yet to experiment level synching in FFXI, but from what I heard when you sync down to low level you need proper equipment. If we are able to wear our high level gears when low level, doesn't that make us too powerful for the synching to be possible? I doubt they would do this since it defeat the purpose of level synching in the first place.

I think how they do the level synching is that they lower your level to match with the group, you need to carry the appropriate gears for your level. Also, your status will be nerf. Exp also earn will be very low to be worth it. So no level synching is a bad ideas. And no, the feeling is very different helping other and feel good about yourself because you are like everyone else in the group. You work hard but earn little exp in return that it is not worth it. There is nothing to feel good about yourself in this process.

I know this because I have actually used Level Sync in FFXI.

Level Sync (and FFXI in general) has a feature called Equipment Scaling, in which your higher level equipments stats gets reduced to the appropriate power level when you are level synced. This feature was specifically made to address the problem of carrying multiple gear sets for every possible level. So you could wear your AF armor while level synced in a lower-level party and still get stat bonuses on par with that synced-down level. When you leave the party, the level sync goes away and your equipment returns to its normal uber-stats.

Now I will grant you that in most situations a HQ version of the level appropriate gear gives slightly better stats than synced-down high-level gear. But it is certainly not to the point where the synced-down high-level gear would be considered "gimp" or "nerf".

If you would like, you can read all about the FFXI implementation of it in the link below.

They would also feasibly alter how optimal gear works when you're under level sync. Gear used to scale down before 1.19, it would just take some time to make proper scaling with new stats.

Too bad that's FFXI though. It may be completely different in FFXIV knowing they already change what work in FFXI and put it in FFXIV.
