Low dps is not a good reason to kick somone in a rouletteFirst off, adding a message is just begging for drama.
Second of all, if someone doesn't want to play with you, for whatever reason, it's better to encourage more kicks than less to short circuit drama before it escalates to full on you don't pay my sub territory.
Low dps is a good reason to kick someone at 70. Kicking someone because their pink glamour gives you anxiety is a dumb reason.
If it's going to cause an argument, kick. Good or bad reason.
And adding the message would cause more drama of course but it would make people more hesitant to randomly kicking people because they get upset because somone has low dps.
Sorry, but if you're clearly netflixing your way through the roulette - not even making at least a token effort... I won't initiate the kick, but I sure will click 'yes' if someone else does. And it's happened from time to time.
Im just gonna put this out there. If you play poorly enough that people are kicking you often, maybe try not to play so poorly? I cant speak to your experience dealing with other players, but the groups that im in kick people maybe once every 90 days(not counting afk/disconnections). Ive never initiated a kick on anyone who was present and trying to clear something with me, and i vote no if i dont see a valid reason to drop someone(if i do see a valid reason, i join the yes's). My social circle isnt one of random kickers(though we will mock people among ourselves to ease stress), and i myself have only ever been kicked for connection issues(which sucks since i cant control it, but i understand). So if the issue(in your mind) is low DPS, maybe work on your rotation? Are you doing it close to the right way? Is it possible that the class you picked isnt actually a good fit for you? I know a guy who was a horrid dragoon(he wanted to be good so much), but once he switched to another class suddenly it was like day and night how much better he was. Some people are just a more natural fit for one role over another. Me? Im the worst healer youd ever meet, i get too anxious to play melee DPS sometimes(its only sometimes and i havent figured out what the trigger is), and while i can tank it feels wrong. So i dont force groups to put up with my bad healing or occasional freakouts with a melee class, and i stick primarily to the caster class that im good at.
Whether or not you think low dps is a good reason to kick someone, you dont need a good reason. And the type of low dps that gets people kicked isnt "i expect you to do 4200 and you only managed 3800", the type of low dps that gets people motivated enough to kick is the "why is the healer doing more then you while also keeping the party alive and well". And youre dead wrong about messaging. Someone who wants you gone enough to start a kick isnt someone whos going to hesitate just because some message popped up(the people who would hesitate arent voting to kick you at all). Youre also wrong if you think that said message would be "Tankington Made'up'name has started a vote to kick you" - any message would be anonymous. And another thing, if youre actually being kicked then its more then one person saying theyd be better off without you. And is it possible that you arent being kicked for low dps at all, but for some other reason? Bad attitude? Bad jokes? Being a lala? NOT being a lala? There are other possibilities afterall.
If you are constantly being kicked in random parties, there might be an issue with your play style others don't agree with. That's just a general message to anyone. Don't know anyone on this thread so couldn't say.
If it was a one off being kicked, may or been the other 2 or 3 people in the party kicked you get to a lazy friend in late to the party for final boss? Or maybe one of them was mad you rolled on and won an item without even asking "Hey can I get that item" (Yes, it happens, and its super petty, doesn't matter if they asked or not). If it was a one off, I wouldn't dwell on it. At best maybe you can report them with the contact us? But doubt GM's will find reason to take action.
If someone is batantly lazy i will kick with no qualms, but I'll give people a bit of slack if I think the player is new to the game.
I had a Brayflox party kick a (I think) new player at the last boss for having bad gear. The other party members knew his/her gear was bad from the very beginning, but decided to be asses and wait until the very end.
Because theres NO way you could possibly clear a place as hard as Brayflox with anything less then BiS gear. Im honestly surprised you made it as far as the final boss at all with him dragging down the party. Infact, kicking might not go far enough. That new guy should be forced to pay the subs for those other guys for a month or something. Thatd teach him not to be new. /sarcasmIf someone is batantly lazy i will kick with no qualms, but I'll give people a bit of slack if I think the player is new to the game.

With that said, if his gear was actually broken and no longer functional and he was playing a role necessary for the party to succeed then maybe a kick makes sense. But if thats the case, you dont do it at the end you do it as soon as its clear that his stuff is broke and he doesnt have backups at the important slots.
It was a SMN with level 20ish gear and was missing a few accessories.Because theres NO way you could possibly clear a place as hard as Brayflox with anything less then BiS gear. Accessories are meaningless before level 50. A level 16 cotton robe has roughly as much int on it as a good aetherial level 49 ring. Its nice to see someone put forth the effort to equip every slot, but the 1 int per jewelry he was missing is nothing. I did a bit of back of the envelope math. If we compare low quality level 16 gear to the very best level 36 gear(something likely worse then he had versus something better then is available to maximize the effect) then the difference in gear would drop his potential damage by around 33%(if the weapon was up to date and everything else was crap this is more like 5-10% - weapons matter). Very few people play up to the true maximum potential of their class ever, let alone in a low level dungeon setting(and especially when theyre newer and learning the class). I cant assess spell usage and rotation to see how much better or worse then assumptions he would have been beyond that, but it feels like a range of 50-75% is a safe bet for how much damage he was doing versus perfect play(keeping in mind of course that perfect is better then the others were doing either, its probly more like 60-85% of what the other dps did). Thats probly low enough to notice, but certainly not worth kicking over unless he was also a jerk. So bad on those guys.
Guys it was literally the only time I've ever been kicked in a party since 2.0...
This was a thread asking if there was any weird exploit and it turned into (surprise) a way to poop on players for [insert you don't pay my sub reason here].
You can lock this thread... I got my answer. LOL
