So you are either a living computer or you analyse the combatlog after every fight for several hours. Since you are 100% not a computer and you won't write down the complete combatlog to do the math, you are just another person who tells a nice little story but the reality will be very different.

If he's that much of a prodigy, it should be a piece of cake right?

I mean, I know I'm not a great tank by any stretch (if I was even worth 1% of skill for savage, I'd be tanking full Expert dungeons in Sword Oath only without the DPS using any enmity modifiers and being 40 ilvl higher than me). I also know I'm not a great healer in Savage either (I flummox and get confused too easily). Difference is, I'm not claiming to be a prodigy, he is. And looking at his stats while has done better than me, I wouldn't put him at prodigy levels.

EDIT: Oh and for the record, I'm bad and I hide mine because I know I'm bad (scoring around 10-20th percentile, aka I shouldn't be raiding at all, got a few billion hours more research to do before I'd even be considered 1% of the way to being good enough). But again, I'm not claiming to be a prodigy.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

ya dude it's simple playing at 200+fps just apparently makes all your gcd abilities do 8x more damage or something

I'm gonna take a break from my general sarcasm and shit disturbing to get a more positive message out there: you are mega under selling yourself.

If you do have any actual, legitimate interest in trying to take on Savage level content, lemme know and I'll help you get spun up. It doesn't take anywhere near the amount of time or effort that you're putting out there. All it takes is knowledge about your rotation, a decent grasp on your role, and the rest comes from experience.

Don't sell yourself short, anybody can do it. I ate shit and died super hard when I started raiding... To like, everything. And now I consider myself pretty decent.

I had been raiding this tier. I was breaking in O7S too much, and while it was other issues that caused the static to disband (we had problems of bickering and such, as well as I was demanding perfection from myself, to the point the standards I put myself under, I got accused of trolling by randomers, because I had impossibly high standards, and it caused friction), I still felt I was underperforming and stonewalled by O7S. Thankfully, I'm getting support for this, and one of the things included is learning how to gracefully handle when things go wrong. Due to start in about a month's time. So will probs skip next raid tier. Doubt I'll get the coping strats in time. Oh well. Maybe next expansion.

You know what shocks me? No one pointed out the fallacy of that line. 200+ fps is useless if your monitor can't keep up. If he was smart and trying to cut out all the loopholes for a counter he would of stated what his monitor can render. This game is slow though so i highly, highly doubt more then 60 FPS makes any difference to DPS in this game. Getting less then 60 or jitter bouncing of a low number fps and to 60+ will make a difference but constant 60 vs anything more? na

Truth here. I didn't come into this game with any intention to raid at all, but my friends pushed me into it because of 'having potential' and all, that and I was apparently a rare 'decent bard' back in Heavensward. Not to mention there's isn't much else to do in the game, so why not learn how to raid? I didn't even start trying to raid until about a year and a half after I started playing.

Everything in this game is about progress, and I find the biggest hurdle is your own mind. Even now I'm still susceptible to this - I cleared O5S and O6S week one, but didn't clear O7S until week 5 (I never even stepped into the fight until some friends shoved me in there out of nowhere) simply because I found the fight intimidating as hell and was scared of letting everyone else down myself. Still though, I would have never gotten this far without learning to adapt to everyone else, though I admit it's easier to do that as a Bard.

Ah yes another glorious meme thread. I shall add this meme to my collection in the hopes that Lahabrea will be proud of me when I offer all these memes to The One True God.

Probably no one pointed it out because it didn’t need to be pointed out—his post was 200% talking out of his behind. My eyes glazed over reading that nonsense.

What -did- happen with UwU, if you don't mind me asking? What are you referring to, with that statement?

The official staff was watching the progress of the groups in that content very, very closely, after all. Enough that the combat designer was delighted when there was such positive reaction to the 'twist' of the fight. They also did know that no group that used the Ungarmax exploit was able to clear Bahamut Ultimate with it, as an example. Are you implying that the groups that have cleared UwU should be banned just for associating with parsers? Do you believe yourselves to have better judgement than the actual developers?

There are... Feelings. And then there is practical reality. Knowledge of the latter is certainly lacking in a lot of people in this age.

A JP site summarized the dengeki interview at E3. Here's the translation:

[Regarding the problem involving 3rd party tools in Ultima weapon (ultimate)]

Certain 3rd party tools allowed players to capture and show the packets sent from the servers, earlier than they should be shown. (note: They are talking about 3rd party tools calling out Gaol targets in Ultimate before they even show up on the screen). However, they don't think it was that crucial of a problem, because that phase takes place early on in the battle.

To counter this in future content, they will need to add another layer of protection. They want to change the timing and how they send the packets, and also improve how the effects/animations allow you to detect the mechanics, in order to confuse those 3rd party tools.
As much as I'd love to see Yoshi-P deliberately break all the tools, It would take elliptic-curve cryptography to prevent the FFXIV ACT Plugin from being able to record that data in the first place (as opposed to the fixed key to access the lobby). Yet it's likely they'd just use an off-the-shelf crypto, which would just add more latency and increase the minimum CPU requirements. The only reason it works at all is because the existing plugin only needs to use zlib, and not for very much.

The irony is, Yoshi-P is clearly aware of the kinds of cheating going on, and hasn't cracked down on players doing it, which ends up giving the impression that nobody will ever be punished for ANY kind of automated play.

The very definition of cheating is "to violate rules or regulations"
