    4.4: Role Action slots increased to 10. Thoughts?

    It seems to me that the developers are acknowledging that there are issues with the role actions and this is the quick band-aid fix for it. I hope they can come up with a better long term solution.

    As a healer, now I can put Break on my hotbar and never use it. /s

    Also, so much for reducing button bloat.

    Edit because this has been necro'd: I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing out how silly it is that so many abilities were pruned for Role actions in the name of reducing button bloat from classes, then restrict those available to five and then they give them all out. Despite the fact that things like Provoke and Esuna shouldn't be optional buttons to begin with. They're basically mandatory. As a healer, there have been times where I wish I'd had more than 5 abilities and I'm glad for the change.

    Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
    Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
    Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

    if you acknowledge that it's a band-aid fix, you shouldn't complain about the irritations of it being a band-aid.

    they very likely will do more about it in the next expansion. until then you can continue to not use the extra slots, it won't make you unable to complete any of the new fights.

    I never ever had any issue with 5 slots. Now with 10 slots we will have to take more slots to our hotbar just because mastery.
    They could open to 6 or 7, but 10 it to put the whole system into trash.
    I'm fine with 5.

    Have to remember now if DPS even have 10 role abilities....

    Actually, I think that they're bumping it up to 10 rather than just adding a couple more is a sign that they have to be adding more role abilities at some point in time.

    They should just leave role actions as being skills which are required by every job of said role and remove the fluff added to give the illusion of choice.

    At this point just get rid of the role skill system and bring back the skills that were sacced for it (Foresight, Shadowskin, Luminerus Aether, Shroud of Saints, Exalted Detriment...), even if they all operate in the same way at least they'll actually fit the job and distinguish them from each other a tad more.

    It's going overboard. The number should have been six.

    Or, at the very least, give all tanks their own Rampart variant, all healers their own Esuna at a low enough level for it to matter (like making Leeches a low level ability instead of what it was pre-SB), Swiftsong back to Brd and let Mch have Pelaton, and so on down the line to make up for that one slot.

    Ten slots? What is the point of role abilities being separate, or dealing with button bloat as supposedly addressed by SB launch, by this point?

    I feel like the point was missed here as to what was needed and wanted. It's like wanting to install a tiny window or vent in one big wall of a large house, but deciding to blow up the whole wall instead. It's really overkill, and potentially dangerous.
