Also the Heavy status. Can't blame your mates for taking avoidable AoE if this is not being cleansed. The reduction to movement is drastic.

Cutters Cry is one early instance I can think of where Esuna is still needed to this day. Chimera is the first boss I can recall that uses non-telegraphed attacks that hit like a truck and also inflict a status ailment. At least one player gets nailed by Dragon/Ram's voice every time I go there, every time they go off. This is also a specific instance I can think of pre-SB that drove me crazy when I was leveling my SCH because I was below level 40 (the previous requirement for Leeches).

I want to say that it isn't until 50+ where the lack of a cleanse can lead to a player KO. Sastasha HM is one that immediately pops in mind.

It's the Sandworm boss that's the first test of Esuna - that debuff is strong on undergeared/new players - and I've yet to see a new healer cope without it being Esuna'd off.

Edit: I maintain that is should just be baseline for all healers - it's crazy having it as an optional skill. It's the same as just removing all debuffs from the game - if healers have to know they need it, what is the point of having anything situational in the first place?
It is a terrible example to set to a new healer faced with these encounters not having it to hand. Watching people die to Doom in Dun Scaith and Exdeath - when it should be hardwired into the play style by that point is crazy. It's not like this game asks that much of healers in the general content anyway.

Role Actions were a terrible idea - but it's even more pronounced with healers. I want to have Rescue. The SB trailer said I could have it - and i can't. Crazy bad design.

The most trouble I've had with the sandworm boss in that instance are peeps running in the same path the worm is going, which acts like a ridiculous DoT; and standing in its AoE zone when it immerges, which I believe is also non-telegraphed iirc. You are right though, and this boss tends to cause a bit of trouble for new players.

I couldn't agree more about Esuna having no place in role skills. Having it as an innate skill for all healers should be a given. Role skills are such an oddity. Some of them make sense, others not so much. Healers really do seem to have gotten short end of the stick here. It needs a complete overhaul, but not necessarily taken out of the game. I like having to choose between Rescue and Cleric Stance. I do not like having to choose between Rescue and Esuna, if that makes sense.
