How to get into the PVP in this game?

I really want to try to get into the PVP in this game, but, I dunno where to start.

I main an AST, but what class do you recommend for PVP? for a beginner, and how to farm gear, what to do?!

I welcome any tips. Used to play some more PVP focused MMO's like Guild Wars 1 and 2 / WoW, but, since everyone is saying that this PVP is bad, I never got around to it, however, since I'm playing it, and paying for it, I might as well get into it and decide that for myself, because I do enjoy FF14 combat, a lot!

The real answer is to go into wolves den and read up on your abilities. Are you looking to join the competitive side and play some Feast? Or are you looking to play more casually with Frontline / Rival Wings?

Nothing to it but to read your abilities and jump into Frontline or Rival Wings. Make sure you read the maps rules and go nuts.

Not sure why everyone in the thread is being so negative. We're already a niche community, why would anyone want to push away people interested in joining us? It's honestly mind blowing.

Hmmm, interisting. So, they removed a bunch of skills and made it very easy for anyone to hop in. I'm going to train Ninja in PVP, since I don't like to be stuck in place casting spells.

So the point of PVP is vanity, there is no gear progression, just skill. Regarding the FEAST seasons, are the rewards any good? where can I see the list?

I actually don't mind just a couple skills, reminds me of GW2, and I do enjoy that PVP more than WoW. Besides vanity, is there any actual progression? What is the point of the PVP, just to be the best and brag about it?

You can stop being negative about the PVP, I'm gonna try it, just want to know what it has to offer.

Huh? Other than you and OP, there was only me and Jellybums who spoke out of 8 responses and we were only 2/8 xD.

Why am I negative though? It's better to warn now before you actually get to PvP and see it for what it really is...

If you want to get into PVP for this game specifically, then anything past front-lines you'll most likely have to join certain discords for.

• Front lines is usually the most active due to the daily bonus system, so your best bet at regularised PVP would be via that, just queue up in the evenings.
  
  
• Rival Wings is primarily dead, but there's a Discord that coordinates to pop games over the weekend, they usually get anywhere from 2-6 match pops when that happens before it dies down. Their discord link https://discord.gg/Vjsavn (it's a 1 day link so if you miss it look around on reddit or something).
  
  
• The Feast is hit and miss, you most likely won't get any games at low rank depending on the season (right now it's almost the end of the season), and in general the mode can get fairly dead and queue inducing depending on season rewards. You'd have to join a Discord for this mode too, there's a lot of small unwritten rules and meta to it once you go past gold rank. There's also a lot of competitive salt, so expect people point out your mistakes with ignore marks / private messages and etc. For community, make sure to look up the Wolves Pup Den, this is the main PVP discord for feast, as well as https://pvpaissa.com/.
