Can we have a server merger after fee take place ?

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that 2.0 we will get entirely new servers.
If they close and condense the current servers it will not have any effect on what is planned for 2.0.

Personally I'm very much for a server merger. There's not enough people on my server to really keep the game flowing, and likely less in the midterm wait between charging and 2.0 release.

I'm a little surprised about the confusion surrounding this, XI had several mergers and closings and reopenings over the years and it never negatively impacted the game. It's a pretty common thing to do.
In fact, it may be even slightly less painful to do because the surname system makes it highly unlikely your character will have to be renamed and there's no delivery system to gobble up unclaimed goods. However, Reinheart may be right that the server structure we have currently is too wacky to even allow for any of it lol.

There's huge server latency now; and there will be new servers for 2.0. merging before then would be more work than it's worth. I'd much rather have the dev teams spend their time on things that benefit us more in the long run.

I doubt that. With the implementation of achievement system, it would very likely be tied to that. Unless you think you can complete all the achievements, some of which may no longer be accessible through subsequent patches...

The title say it. I personally prefer a server merger so the player who remain can play together instead of scatter around different world with low population. This is not something I foreseen, but is what I am afraid is gonna happen and likely is going to happen.

ps: the fee is only the small reason, and the big reason is something I cant mention in here but you already know what s gonna happen in 2 weeks

Fewer servers to maintain saves time, fewer servers running saves a ton of money, higher player saturation makes it easier to create content. It might be a tad bit of work, but keep in mind the people who would do it is not the same creative teams working on content and it honestly wouldn't distract them all that much if any at all to go forward with it.
