Don't know if this has been asked yet, but with the new dungeons coming out, what do you think the ilvl requirements will be? I don't raid or anything and primarily only play for the story. But that does mean I need to run the new MSQ dungeons when they go live. I'm currently at 335 or so. Do you think I'll need to be 350 or higher for the new dungeon? I understand HoH is a deep dungeon so ilvl probably won't be a factor. I'm thinking more along the lines of MSQ stuff.

The problem is that with this patch you dont even need burn through content to have nothing new to do. Even someone who goes at it with a normal speed will have completed it in maybe two weeks maximum and if they are not interested in the hardest content in the game they will suddenly have to wait weeks for a piece of content that at least may be longliving again. MMOs need to have content to keep people playing, especially if you have to pay a sub. Thats why stuff like the relic exist. PotD was something for me that at least went into this direction and kept people playing it for a longer time. I mean we are not even speaking of having content that will keep people playing it for half a year or something like that. But we are even lacking in new content that will keep most people playing it at least for a few weeks to maybe 2-3 months. Eureka for the relic and PotD 2 for leveling could do that, yet somehow both of them are released weeks later...and like Bourne said, it makes people feel like they do that to keep more people subbed.

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

One thing, remember that the having nothing to do is true if you have really finished everything to do in the game, which can be a big IF to some ppl, so while this is not to be taken as an against to your position, be mindful of this possibility

You'll probably have to be 360. In looking back at the last several dungeon ilvls as they were released, each one corresponds with the previous tome gear (not upgraded). Skalla = 310 (Ala Mhigan gear), Hell's Lid = 330 (Lost Allagan gear), and with the current Ryumyaku gear being 360 pre-upgrade, I'd suspect it's that. I'd just work on expert roulette and get up-to-date with your mendacity gear.

That imo is not a good argument because that would mean that nobody ever can say that they have nothing to do. Heck some of the achievements take years to complete and I would dare to say that most people will never finish them. When people say they have nothing to do they mean new content. You cant just keep an MMO alive with long time achievements. If we discuss this points we should never take those into account because they are not content itself but making something artificial longer. I mean I am quite sure that raiders for example would not be fine if they just get one new raid per expansion and the rest is just achivements. "Hey did you already do 1000 run of each raid stage? No? Well then you have something to do and should not complain for a lack of new raids."

There is a point where running the same dungeons again, where crafting the same items for achievements again, where gathering the same ores for the 10.000 HQ achievement will be just annoying. Thats why we need new content, and at least it feels that this patch did not gave it enough.

Considering the general way of the discussion here I'd say it's a valid point actually.
The point is that ppl are making this argument using their own experiences as absolute, I could tell you a friend that plays with me is ages behind me in most content because how she has decided to play, which means that while I've done most of the things in the game, she hasn't, If I were to complain about the lack of content, there will be a disconnect beteween me and her and THAT'S why I said that.
How someone decides to play the game is their own choice and not necessarily a game problem.
That said I've always said that this game lacks mindful long term goal and I won't back down from that or how the game should not be time gated as 4.3 is.

however take notice that complaining about lack of New content IS, WAS and FOREVER will be a poor argument (if by new you mean as new addition, not new concept ofc) because there's no way that they can keep up churning out new content to satisfy content consumption and that's not a SE problem per se.

    Skalla = 300
    Hell's Lid = 310

    Optional Dungeon The Swallow's Compass = 330

There is no way they wont let people using fully upgraded Eureka gear for their left side not be able to do MSQ, given they have ilvl 360 accessories.

Swallows Compass is iLvl 330 and drops iLvl 345 gear. I would expect the new dungeon(s) to be either 345 or 350. Most likely 345, expecting that a player who doesn't raid has at least all the 345 gear from Swallow's mixed in with some +2 Relic gear.

I would never go and say forever because there will often exist an exception. I mean if for example they truly just release one raid per expansion the raiders that are raiding are out of raid content, thus they would be right to complain about a lack of content for them. I know that there always will be people that will finish even the biggest patch in no time and you will also always have people that are slow. But neither of them should be those that the devs should take into account when they are planning their patches. Otherwise they either have to pump out unnecessary huge amount of content or barely anything. (If for example SE would take the word of someone that started new, they would not need to pump out any patches for quite a while because that person does have a huge amount of things to do, but I would dare to say that a lot of us would not be happy with that.)

I also believe that someone that plays this game in a normal pace (and your friend for example seems to be slower) and from the beginning thus have everything they wanted to do completed can call it lack of content. Maybe a better way is to say, the patch itself lacks in content? In the end if you are up to date and are waiting for the patch to bring you new content/additions and you can just finish everything the new patch has to offer in a week or two and then are already bored and need to search for something else to do in the game (which are mostly achievements) then imo there is something wrong with the patch. And this could have been changed if they gave us Eureka or the new PotD at least two weeks after the initial launch.

(And honestly imo saying that its a poor argument is subjective. Everyone has their own kind of definition of lack of content. Some will just count that what they like, some will take each and every achievement in the game into this thus nobody would ever be able to truly complain and so on. But if I for example only look at it from the perspective that a new patch is out and how long it takes a normal paced person to complete the casual content of it then for me this shows a lack of content. Does that make me objectively right? Probably not. But imo we cant discuss this objectively. Thus I dont find it a poor argument at all, we just see it in different ways.)
