The Warrior of Light should have been wiser than that to just assume he was dead and actually made sure of that (my headcanon Enki would have beheaded him with a simply a quick downward thrust of Curtana as he lay there... but alas..).

And I can even picture the line to go with it:

(Zenos has just apparently committed suicide as Raubahn rushes in)
Raubahn: "Where is he?"
Alphinaud: "He's dead. By his own hand."
Enki: (eyes narrowed) "Wait! We better check for a pulse though..."
(Draws Curtana and then thrusts down, decapitating him in one stroke)
Enki: "No pulse..."

By the game’s script, at least, that’s more or less what he already did to himself. It seems poor directing that they actually included a shot of him lying there with his head visible and no apparent injuries, because what was implied up to that point had me envisaging something much more horrific. It should have been easy enough to frame and leave it to the player’s imagination.

In any case I definitely remember someone remarking (I think at the point we heard that he was supposedly alive again) that he couldn’t have survived those injuries because he’d almost beheaded himself. Which is prettymuch what I thought had happened in the first place.
