I just can't understand not wanting to challenge yourself with harder difficulty content when it's right there for you. How is it possible to play this game without taking part in the extremely limited endgame content ffxiv actually has? Do people seriously only log in to duty finder easy mode content for months on end?
That's an unfair comment to make as what is easy is very subjective. There is some content that I find very difficult that others do not.

But to answer your question, maybe they do. I personally log into the game because it's kind of a relaxing time-waster for me. I like decorating my house. I enjoy helping my FC mates level. I enjoy the world of Eorzea and the story behind it and it's characters so the more hectic endgame (savage) content has never been a priority for me. Everyone plays the game for different reasons.

The point I'm trying to make is content directly involved with a story shouldn't be locked behind a harder difficulty when it wasn't before.

Except from what I can tell, all you're missing is a second phase fight and gear by not doing Savage? You're not locked out of /any/ story in SB's current Savage Raiding scene.

As explained already, it WAS. Coils didn't offer any other difficulty but the harder one. And God Kefka and what not aren't 'story', they're arguably meaningless outside of the immediate context of the fight.

Personally I'm a big fan of square adding normal raids so people can experience the story and not be blindsided by the entrance fee for savage tier raiding that comes with players not really knowing how to play their jobs correctly. It's a time investment that comes easier to some and harder to others but by no means is it not accessible, you're just not ready for it right now. Square isn't denying you anything they're just setting the bar a little higher and asking you to step up. If you aren't able to do that its not Squares fault its yours and like I said above the bar isn't as high as some people make it out to be.

And it isnt anymore. Unlike before, aka Coil.

You said it yourself: Its a tournament-like storyline. There is no story involved with GodKefka and NeoEx-Death. Non. The arena changes, the boss looks change, but there is nothing storylike attached to it.
It is just a fight, thats locked behind a previous fight to give those who want to see and do more in the game something to be excited about.

You're missing out on a fight here because you choose not to do it, for whatever reason. Not everything needs a dumbed down casual version.

But its not directly involved with the story. You get the same story as everyone else in the normal raids. You want to experience the fight, then go experience it. Nothing is stopping you but yourself

Considering that it was neat to see Neo Exdeath & God Kefka from our old games we used to play that it is kind of messed up how it is gated by skill.

Why couldn't it have been set to where that Savage just gives the better reward, and a normal (well more on the extreme side) version of God Kefka & Neo Exdeath just give a reward based on Extreme difficulty rather than Savage Difficulty? Also this will give players more room to learn, and ACTUALLY PREPARE TO DO SAVAGE NEXT. I hate to say it but you can't expect 8 people to get on the same page right from the get go on a Savage Random PF raid, I had so many groups where it was one constant failure after another. I'm also annoyed by the veiled elitism being presented but those certain players don't want to outright say it, Yoshida I don't wish to criticize you but you're fueling something unintentionally toxic.

Also don't get me started on statics, those are constant drama ride.
I pugged every single savage fight in the last tier and had it all cleared by week 5. There is nothing stopping anyone from doing these fights except themselves. The dev's shouldn't have to waste EVEN MORE resources for people that "dont want to" do the fights as they were developed. It's insane how many posts I see about stuff like this. "It's hard so I shouldnt have too" My favorite one -- "I have a family and job and dont have time"

I have a family, work a full time job, and have brain cancer, and I still have time to raid and have fun in this game. I don't wanna hear "you don't have time, or the fight is too hard" Figure it out
