So actually you only want hairstyles to be race-locked for the sake of being race-locked?

What do you think about the arguments made in this thread about races that share the same culture and about the fact that out characters are world-traveling adventurers that see all kinds of cultures?

Personally, I think it would be really nice if they gave the different races some things that define their cultures more. Just not with hairstyles and clothes. Because I don't think it would work in this game, lore-wise. Races and cultures are quite mixed. Other than a few exceptions (like some Miqo'te and Xaela tribes), every race and clan could actually have very similar hairstyles.

New hairstyles that are fitting for specific cultures would be really nice to have, but shouldn't be locked to a specific race because most other races would probably come in touch with them quite often, so it would actually be strange if they couldn't have those hairstyles.

That has been what I've been saying. XD Thank you for finally noticing. While I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth getting fussed over (as in it won't make or break the game for me if it never happens), I think we need more racially locked hairstyles since we already have 40+ hairstyles every race can wear. /Repeats self like a broken record

But yes, I agree with this full-heartedly! It's pretty watered down for the most part. They even describe as highlanders being off in the mountains and yet I don't think we've ever seen that. We've also yet to see a keeper of the moon tribe (though, they're not really in a clan like the seekers. Interacting with a family to learn more about them would be fun.). Aside from seekers and Au Ra (I'll count the Raen bubble, lol), there really isn't much presence.

Elezens, in Gridania, were not very mixed for a very long time and there's still prejudice toward non-Elezens in Gridania (evident in the bard quests and I believe in some other quests). Roes seem to dominate Limsa and Doma as opposed to anywhere else, but I'll give you credit for that one, as well as midlanders. But I'm pretty sure midlanders were supposed to be just about everywhere these days.

Then why have racially locked hair to start with? Au Ra are the newest race and they have hairstyles locked to them as well. Surely, SE has a reason (and a valid argument for that is not "well, it's stupid," etc.).
